...they all stopped calling months ago. Makes me sad.

I don't think debt collector scammers count toward the "do not call list." It's just for telemarketing solicitation (though political and charity calls are exempt).

If you tell them in writing to stop calling, by law they're required to stop calling. Fines vary from $500 to $1000 that's paid to the person called. Plus when you're in BK it's against the law to continue collections actions.

Wed, Thurs and today of this week, I have gotten about 10 calls a day on my cellphone from a 12 digit number, and the person on the other end doesn't speak english. If it persists I am going to call my carrier and see what they can do, but it's really annoying. And they clog up my voicemail.

The number that shows on my call display is 966596156431. Saudi Arabia??

The mods are aware, I'd be surprised if he were back. There's no lines to read between in that statement, btw.

Googling the name of the collector and agency gives this thread as the #2 result.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a person/ company concerned with their perception wouldn't have people doing google searches - hell, how many people here google themselves semi-regularly?- and finding such a thread wouldn't have someone sign up to carry the flag. Maybe the "deadbeat" will pay up because of the words of some random noob on a bbs. All it cost was time.

With that, let's drag it back on topic. If SayWhat! shows up again, that bridge will be burned when we come to it.

Wouldn't be surprised if that has happened at some point.

We are talking about an industry whose national spokesman whined that the problem wasn't the collectors breaking the rules but debtors filing complaints and actions against the ones breaking the rules.

I posted it in TNZ, but I'll repost it here, I had one that called up recently and insulted my sexuality (though whole, what are some kind of *** crap) and made fun of me having MS.
