Buffy Seasons 6 and 7 combined into one

Joe my friend you really need to get a TV writing job. You don't seem to be satisfied with anything that anyone else has done. ;)

It's just that I've noticed how some people have had issues with Seasons 6 and 7 and I was wondering how you guys would feel if best elements of the two were mixed as one.

And the whole potentials plot will vanish without a trace and take the Evil Willow with him.

I didn't have a problem with most of the sixth season.

Yeah it was really just the 7th that kinda sucked. Never really liked the Potentials thing. Buffy and the Scoobies against the First would have been OK. If they wanted to end the series with Buffy alive and no longer the Slayer they could have done that with Faith somehow.

I hated the sixth season when it first aired...but after subsequent viewings of it...the season has grown on me. I get what Joss was attempting to do with it. It culminates with the "Gift" which is actually a fine episode and would serve as a decent series finale imo, in fact I think it almost was meant to be wasn't it? Season Seven just feels off and convulated and not well executed. Buffy's constant speeches got weary after a time and the momentum of the season I think gets kind of bogged down. The idea of the First is fine and I think it should have still be used but not manifested. I much rather like the idea of Caleb as being the big bad for the season. He reminds me kind of what Kevin Smith wants to do with "Red State" his upcoming horror film.

I think the Gift ended Season 5, with Glory. S6 was after Buffy's resurrection and the Big Bad was the triumvirate of Jonathan, Warren and Andrew. And Evil Willow of course.

Indeed.

I think the first question I would ask at the beginning of Season 6 is: "Why aren't Willow and Tara paying rent?" They make such a big deal about how poor Buffy is and even go so far as to make her work at a fast food place, but the other people living in the house don't seem to be doing anything to help out.

I really liked the idea of The First being the Big Bad of the final season. However, Season 6 ends in a very hopeful way, and Season 7 begins with a lot of that high school silliness. I wish Season 7 had been less dark and moody the whole time and had kept with the more light-hearted tone that it started with.

If I were to combine the seasons, I'd definitely get rid of the Double Meat Palace stuff, and I'd probably make the Trio have fewer episodes dedicated to them. I loved Evil Willow, and I loved that Xander was the one to save the day, so I would keep that stuff in there.

Both S6 and S7 had enough good to excellent episodes that I wouldn't try and condense them. In fact, I think S4/5 would be better candidates. Or S1/2. Or we could just leave things as they are and bask in the goodness that is even sub-par BtVS.

Shut up, that's why!

It would have improved both seasons. Just use a hell of alot more of Seven than Six :p The Six stuff should be like six episodes. God I hated Six!

Yeah I think I just got confused. "The Gift" did end season five not six...it's been a while since I've seen Buffy. How do we know that Tara and Willow aren't paying rent? But yeah I don't think Willow had a job, trying to remember if Tara did. I'm thinking that Buffy allowed them to stay in the Summers home for free, after all they did help with other things ;)

But they were living there for months between Seasons 5 and 6 while Buffy was DEAD! Somebody had to be paying the mortgage!

And no, neither Willow nor Tara had jobs that we ever saw. Xander and Anya had jobs, but they also had their own apartment.

It's true and I don't really have any explanation for it other than it's just one of those things we gotta accept as tv watchers. It was never explained in the show and I can't think of a reason how it could be explained.

I never accepted it. It always pissed me off that they weren't helping. Were they still in school?

Yeah, they were in school, but college never stopped me from having a job and paying my share of the rent!

Honestly, though, you have to wonder why the Watcher's Council wouldn't help out, especially after Buffy's big victory over them in Season 5. They could at least pay her mortgage.

I don't see how UPN could have afforded to produce both "Once More With Feeling" and "Chosen" in the same season.

..unless the rest of the episodes were presented in shadow-play form. That would've been awesome.

Hmm. I don't know how my season 6 & 7 combination would work. I enjoyed the dark start to season 6 with Buffy's resurrection and struggling to feel like she belongs. Everything after Tabula Rasa stank to high heaven though, until Evil Willow.

I was never happy that Evil Willow only seemed a possibility after her Magic is crack! phase. Perhaps bring Tara's death earlier into the season, which would push Willow over the edge into eeeevil mode. Her growing power and sour emotional state would surely make her do very bad things, perhaps even conjuring the First Evil, or working with it? Sounds dubious really.

The end of the series could have both Buffy defeating the First and Xander saving Willow. I didn't like the Potential storyline, so that would shit all over Chosen, which I really enjoyed. I really liked the first seven or so episodes of season seven, though with a lighter tone they seem to have no place in my strange dark season. :wtf:

Ideally, the show should have ended after The Gift. :techman:
