Batman Film Franchise Post Nolan

I get the feeling that "Batman 3" will most likely be Christopher Nolan's final Batman film and he won't want to do any more. With that being the case I've been wondering what direction DC ENT will take the Batman franchise now that Nolan has revamped it. Will they allow another director to come in and play with Nolan's universe (which seems to be part of a future wide spread DCFU (DC Film Universe) or will they give the reigns to someone else and say...relaunch it as you like. If so then I think they should use Dick Grayson and adapt his origin from "Dark Victory" which is a prime example of how you can use Dick without being camp and alienating a large group of fans. One of the prime mistakes of "Batman Forever and Robin" was that they made Dick a teenager already. After seeing "Heat" again recently along with "Public Enemies" I think that Michael Mann would be a terrific successor to continue or reboot the franchise.
 
I think once the Nolan films are done, we'll see a Justice League film with (a newly recast) Batman sooner rather than later. They'll probably also start to go the Marvel route in terms of better integrating their collective properties and placing them all in the same shared universe.
 
Yes this I think is their ultimate goal but I'm talking about even beyond that...when Nolan is done wanting to write and direct the Batman films. This is probably too far in the future to really discuss right now and Geoff Johns did mention when asked by a fan at the Chicago Wonder Con event if there was gonna be a "Justice League" movie he replied to ask him again at comic con. So I'm expecting to hear a slew of announcements or at least confirmations from the DC ENT panel if they have one regarding future films.
 
You mean like beyond this decade? Because I figure any post-Nolan JLA movie wouldn't be until 2015-16 at the earliest, since Batman 3 is due for 2012 (and possibly The Man of Steel as well), and DC might want to introduce at least one other member of the team besides Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern in their own solo movie before doing a team-up (either Wonder Woman or the Flash, maybe both).
 
Yeah I'm talking at least five years from now. I agree with you that a JLA film would probably happen in 2014 or 15 if they got the ball rolling on it now. While I don't think DC ENT will be in any rush to continue the Batman franchise (solo) I suspect that there will be discussions on where to take it after the expected JLA film comes out along with the other DC ENT films.
 
I'm thinkin GL., Batman3 Supes,Then Flas or WW. Then JLA. Hopefully Christian Bale will be in that, but I doubt it. I think after that they will put Batman to rest for a bit. I do agree Robin should be introduced at some point, but I don't see him carrying a solo movie. It's going to be one hell of a challenge to top Nolan. Nolan has a real challenge in making Batman 3 a good one.
 
Just look what currently happens to Spider-Man, Superman and what happened to Hulk. They will have the pitch for a reboot on their desk as soon as the third Nolan-film has finished shooting.
 
Nah I'd like to see Robin, so long as he is done right. Granted I think he will make the movie a bit lighter than the Nolan-verse, but that's not a bad thing. Show people a bit of the veriety Bats has to offer, just make sure we don't go down the forever route and it shouldn't be too bad

Nolan has already said that his Superman is meant to be in a standalone universe, so that would seem to go against the idea that there's a big Avengers-type buildup in the works.
 
It will be rebooted. Bale would never want a reduced role as part of a JL movie.
 
I would prefer to see a new director come in with his own style and vision, instead of just trying to copy or continue what Nolan did.

It would be hard for anyone else to duplicate that, and most likely Bale wouldn't want to be a part of a Nolan-less Batman anyway, so you might as well reimagine everything from the top down.
 
If Nolan and Bale both move on (as I think the case will be) then I'd like to see the series go in a new direction. I'd like the post-Nolan films to skip the origin stories and start off with a Batverse where Batman and most of his rogues gallery are established, and I'd like to see more fantastic elements used with a tone that hits a good mix of drama and humor and that avoids devolving into camp.
 
We had the dark, gothic, Tim Burton version. We've had the loud, garish, neon-colored Joel Schumacher version. Now we've got the gritty, faux-realistic Nolan version. Next time out we need something that meets right in the middle of all that. Something more fantastical than Nolan's but not as silly as Schumacher's or as weird as Burton's. I'd like to see something closer in tone to TAS which really does encompass a wider variety of storytelling styles.
 
I'd like to see something with the style and tone of BTAS, but live action of course. Or even a return to Tim Burton's German Post Expressionism style as well.
 
I love the Burton films, but I'd like to see something different next time. Something like a live action B:TAS is what I'd have in mind, along with a strong Hitchcock influence (particularly Hitchcock in the color films he made in the mid- to late 1950s).
 
It would be interesting for someone to take Batman a little more into the super-heroic world, without being campy like Schumacher's films. Like, have "unreal" villains like Clayface or Killer Croc, with someone like Guillermo Del Toro (for instance) directing.

Here's a radical idea - why not do a black-and-white film? If any major comic book character would be suited to one, it'd have to be Bats... and it could challenge a generation that's barely seen grayscale to give it a try for once.
 
Del Toro would be a fascinating take...I could see him doing wonderful and amazing things with Killer Croc. I still wouldn't mind seeing a Zach Snyder directed "The Dark Knight Returns" film too, not to mention a Batman Beyond film.
 
I know this is a little "Watchmen-esque" but I'd love to see a movie where Bruce Wayne is in his fifties.

And no, I DON'T want anything like the Dark Knight Returns. So just forget about that. So the challenge is to avoid a plot that's anything like Watchmen or DKR. But it could be done.

But how great would it be to just weave in all the things from the later comics...things like Nightwing and Oracle. Things that aren't explained too deeply in the film. The comic fans get it and the ignorant don't NEED to get it. Don't know Barbara's history? Doesn't matter. Just shut up and enjoy the movie.

And no future stuff. Let's agree that Batman first appeared in 1980 in this film. Explore the history of the character. Nolan blended modern-Bruce with young-Bruce in his films. Let the new film do the same thing with old-Batman blended with 1985-Batman. How cool would that be? Make the plot a long-reaching mystery the same way that 'Mask of the Phantasm' did...the flashbacks are necessary for figuring out the plot.

I like a lot of other ideas in this thread too. I'd be happy with a lot of them, too.
