Wolf 359 Borg assault flash animation

I didn't put this is fan productions because its not a story just a short scene of the battle. This is the very first animation I have done entirely in flash, rather than using Goanimate studio.

That's really pretty awesome. I'd love to do stuff like that, but have neither the artistic talent, nor the patience. :)

Nice job.

Thanks a lot.

This was so complicated at one point I totally messed it up and took ages undoing all my actions to get it back to normal. Over 30 different layers and 500 frames. I'll be adding sound when I have learned how

I'[m really getting the hang of this now. I've added a few more scenes and audio! It's so much better with audio

Nice, I love the scene!

I know I'm knit picking, not to put down the art because it is really good, but the Defiant wasn't around until after Wolf 359.

Yes i knew that lol, but most of the ships were already props from Face of the Enema and I couldnt leave it out. The Akira wasn't around then either.

You could easily rename it "Battle for Sector 001" in reference to the opening battle in First Contact and not have to change anything else. Then it would be perfect. :techman:

Well, we're not sure about that. The Akiras have registry numbers that are much lower than the other ships introduced in FC, which suggests that the Akiras are an older design. It could very well be that we never saw them on screen because space is so big and they were usually assigned away from the E-D. With the Borg and Dominion threats after TNG, they could have been pulled back deeper into the Federation. Also, we never saw all 39 ships that were lost at Wolf 359. For all we know, there could have been a couple Akiras there... their usual registry numbers actually work to your favor!

Agreed.

however, just looking at the design -it appears more advanced than the galaxy and nebula classes. It has the FC type escape pods. Sleeker hull and nacelles. Apart from the Galaxy and Nebula I don't think we got any other classes of new modern designs during TNG's run. And the Akira didn't appear on DS9 until after FC in the timeline. Registry numbers are all messed up throughout the history of trek and not always consecutive as one would expect. The Yamato even had 2 different registrys.

I just cant place AKira being made within 3 years of Enterprise D's launch. Unless the USS Galaxy was launched a few years before Enterprise D to allow enough design change from Galaxy to Akira. It's just too different. In real years wasn't it like 9/10 years after encounter at farpoint when First Contact was made.
Thats a long time to design a new model!

I'm happy to assume the Akira's were around just because in my head I have the ultimate 3d version of the Wolf359 assault. And Akira's make the best looking Fed warship's ever.

On the other hand, at least in my humble opinion, I think the Akira is closer aesthetically to the Galaxy/Nebula/New Orleans ships than any other new ship from First Contact. But that's just my reasoning. Whatever the case may be, the flash animation is still fun and vibrant.
