Do Animals Other Than Humans Have Souls?

Do Animals Other Than Humans Have Souls?

It depends upon what you consider a "soul". For example, I believe that every life has it's own energy signature, unique to it, and that this energy signature survives beyond the death of the physical body, and becomes another living being similar to what it was previously, like being "formatted" for a specific type of lifeform. So a human life signature, upon death of the physical body, eventually joins with the physical, once more, to become another human life.

My opinion: Of course they do! And if there is something after death, there souls will be there, just like ours.

I voted NO in the poll but it wasn't a perfect answer.

Because No I don't believe that animals have souls, and I don't believe that humans have souls either.

I think animals do have souls, but maybe more of the energy signature idea that J.
described above. At the very least, I'd like to think that if there is something after death for us, there should be something for animals too.

I'd say if an animal can sing like Ray Charles or James Brown, it has soul!

Oh, we're talking about THE soul. Sorry, I don't believe there is such a thing.

THIS has the potential to get messy. :D

Uh, hmmm... If you believe in religious stuff then yes animals have a sort of soul. If you don't... well then nothing has a sole... unless you're talking feet.

I voted yes. But more to the point, an animal has to be sentient for it to have a soul. I actually read a book that had a very interesting argument about this.

Do they have soul? Yes, some of them do.

Do they have souls? No, I don't think so. But I don't believe in the concept of human souls either.

I think we all either agree that everyone has souls or no one does, right?

I can respect either position. Is there anyone here who thinks a dog is different from a person in regards to stuff like this?

Now that I'd find strange.

I don't think humans or animals *have* souls- I think we *are* souls... electricity in the cells, as long as it's there they can be resuscitated. Then again I don't believe in immortality of the soul...

There's no such thing as a soul, but some animals do have self-awareness like Humans do.

Some animals are persons in my view. The other great apes, at least some of the cetaceans, most likely elephants and possibly some species of parrots and some species of corvids.

I'm not really convinced that I have a soul, so I'm not going to speculate on whether or not animals do.
