I hate John Kruk. He manages to put down Atlanta at every opportunity. It gets old. The Phillies are a good team, but they're not the be all end all of sports.

I was 6.

I do remember his Aqua Teen Hunger Force voiceover though.

Sing for me John Kruuuuuuuk. Weird stuff.

Anyway, I wish there were some more um... home run hitters in the derby tonight.

Tomorrow night ought be a fun night for this forum. Myself, Alidar Jarok, Kira's Mom, mimic, SmoothieX, Joeman, Chaos Descending, Flux Capacitor tomalak301, Kirby, and the 4th Hanson bro, against... you AL heathens. :p

Kruk's a funny guy. Remember the '93 All Star game? :D

Watched it live. I think Larry Walker v Johnson in the 97 contest was funnier.

Should be fun. I hope Ubaldo gets the start.

Haha yeah that's a classic ATHF episode with Kruk and the Sirens. Wacky.

Any chance the NL might actually win? I'd say yeah, about a 15-20% chance. :wtf: I really do hate the home field advantage to the winner thing.

Oh, and suck it Mets! :p

eyewitness news in new york is reporting that george steinbrenner has been admitted to st josephs hospital after suffering a major heart attack. our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Latest update is that he has since died from the heart attack. RIP.

Interesting guy. Hard to classify his legacy. On one hand he built the Yankees from the Bronx Zoo days into a billion dollar franchise who perenially contend. On the other hand, you have all the firings, tirades, suspensions from the game, etc.

RIP George.

Yeah, he definitely was a colorful presence in baseball. He had a big impact on MLB, both positive and negative.

I'll bet a thousand bucks that with his final, dying breath, Steinbrenner fired Billy Martin.

I wonder what the memorial on the uniform will look like. Black turtlenecks perhaps?

They're going to remove all the numbers from the backs of the jerseys and silkscreen Steinbrenner's face onto them, while ESPN will interrupt every program this week with vignettes about THE DYNASTY GEORGE BUILT.

If Bowie Kuhn had a sack, Steinbrenner would have been banned from baseball long before I was even born.

Can't ever think of the Stein without thinking of the hilarious representation of him on Seinfeld. Classic.

Definitely not the most likeable guy in sports, but he certainly is and will always be a legend. I've never been a Yanks fan at all, and have often criticized them for buying championships, but at least they had an owner who was willing to spend the money. Not many sports fans have that luxury, and I bet it was pretty nice.

So, what happens now?

So, what happens now?

Derek Jeter dies, and ESPN ceases all operations and simply runs a 24-hour loop of a three-second clip of him making a routine catch and then dramatically hurling himself into the stands, set to "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan.

RIP George - I never was a Yankee fan, but I appreciate the color you brought to the game.

I thought it would have been Green day "Time of Your Life" or is that too 90's?

As a kid I remember asking my mom why Billy Martin kept getting fired all the time.

RIP George, you definitely left your mark on the game.
