Sometimes, my classification system and my sense of right and wrong don't work together. My classification system places series by their timeline position, without regard to universe. Hence, JJA Trek, Mirrorverse Trek and TOS can all be in the same "Golden Age" time period, and are listed together. Parodies are often off in their own universes, as well. But right now, I have a problem and I don't like either answer I am coming up with.

My problem is classifying "Little Red Headed Studios" work. Here is their own website: http://lilredheadstudios.com/
and their You Tube home: http://www.youtube.com/user/LilredheadComics . I don't see this as worthy of more than a single webpage. But He has three series, one of which is a Parody of Enterprise, set in what I call the "Stone Age" vis: Enterprise: Flashed,

Which is a parody/comedy about Enterprise, and the second two series are Ahoyager, I am Ahoyager, http://lilredheadstudios.com/video-gallery?task=viewcategory&cat_id=18 and Ahoyager, the Journey Home, http://lilredheadstudios.com/movie-directory?search=ahoyager&searchfield=a.title

which is a spoof on Voyager. I have placed some other groups on the edge... literally. So that Go!Animate, which has both Golden Age (TOS-era) films and Silver Age (TNG, DS9, and VOY era films) between the Golden and Silver age films... but what do I do with this? There is no TOS era stuff. It's Stone Age and Silver Age. If I loved his work, I'd probably just give him two pages, but, I really don't think this work is worthy of TWO pages. But the time line doesn't give me a location on the website for it if I do it with one page. Anyway, that's my issue. Constructive comments are welcome.

In reading his own comments, he seems more pleased with his Enterprise Flashed work, and I am inclined to place him there. That could also set a precedent of placing mixed series either with the larger group of videos or the earlier one.

Based on Quantity, I could easily do two pages. I hate to because I find his stuff bad enough that's it's barely out of the "Really, Really Bad Stuff" class.

I remember seeing the Enterprise and Ahoyager animations. They are pretty fun and with some amusing moments.

For some ideas on classifications, maybe at some point you can create multiple ways to organize/search for fan productions. For instance, since you made one that's timeline-based, perhaps later you can make other categories (i.e. based on a ratings system, alphabetized, or categories like animation, live action, stop motion, etc)?

    Keep up the great work!

Star Trek Reviewed has been a one-step-at-a-time process. I started it more or less sure I was doing something somebody else had already done, and I just hadn't found the REAL website yet. A year later, it appears that Star Trek Reviewed is the real website. I knew there was not other website when I started getting e-mails from filmmakers who wanted to be included in the "official listing..." Star Trek Reviewed. Great, I'm a Trekkie for like, 6 months, and suddenly I'm the keeper of the "official listing." When did I change universes, anyway?

So much of this is taste... that's why for my non-parodies, I have a clear rating and classification system. Idomo appeals to me, this doesn't. Funny is very individual. I have no idea how to create a rating system for Comedies or Parodies, particularly since I have unusual ideas about what is funnier than what. For example, many people found Seinfeld a very funny American TV show. I live in Manhattan, and my idea of a depressing day was spending it with other Manhattan singles, many of whom were obsessed with trivia and not interested in the big picture about anything or accomplishing anything. Like the characters in Seinfeld, their lives consist of running in endless circles like dogs with problems. Seinfeld was instant depression, it was liking boiling down three very bad days into one half-hour. I hated it. I guess if I thought I was too happy, I might watch it to get sad. But mostly, if I want to get sad I can watch the news. At least that is informative. Many people seem to enjoy many things I find very sad or disgusting. Frankly, I wish somebody else would write reviews of the comedies and parodies.

I am not knowledgeable about how to do the programming it would take to let the reader reorganize the website into the classifications they want. I am labeling shows as Comedies and Parodies now that I am moving them into blogs. The Little Redheaded Studio clearly needs it's own webpage. It has sat in my Comedy/Parody listings, along with 1 minute shows and Stone Trek and Idomo for months, so I don't have to make a decision today, but the idea is to have all of these comedies/parodies into their own webpages in a month or two.

There are dramas with comedic elements, like the Czech Metrensky Incident. But Metrinsky Incident is a clear drama. There are poorly written dramas which have less coherent storylines than Idomo does. Idomo could get away with being less coherent than it is, but I do appreciate it that the stories do hold together as stories. I watch these things in part because it makes me feel like a little kid, and somebody is indulging me by telling me a story. Sure, there's Pro TV, but the Fan Videos feel like a friend sitting me down and bothering to tell ME the story. Pro TV is so slick, I watch it as if it were real, but then, it's neither personal nor informative, and it's rarely thought provoking. It is precisely the peculiarities of the fan work that make it satisfying to watch.

OK, I've temporarily placed Little Red Headed Studios here, http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/13.html in Blog 13 (that just seemed so appropriate...). At least it's not listed along with a 23 second parody with almost inaudible sound.

I'm looking for better ideas, though! I'm thinking I may move it to the back of the website, and just include links in the listings on the right hand side and inappropriate listings in the Table of Contents and the Major Fan Film listings, which I have not update in a few months, so there is A LOT of work that I need to do there. And yes, I still intend to improve the quality of the webpage, both by adding links, times where they are missing, pictures, and even additional locations where each film can be viewed, as applicable. This is just a draft. In fact, it's not yet in the Table of Contents at all. The only way it's linked is from the Comedy and Parody page. Not ready for Prime Time ... as they say in Saturday Night Live here in New York.

It sounds like you really do take great care and thought in to how you organize your page, Barbreader. That's very impressive.

My suggestion would be simply to categorize it the way you see fit. It is your review page.

Double of Five, my nickname in High School (way back in the late 1960s and early 1970s) was Spock... (as in Mr., not Dr.). And that was not because I or my friends were Trekkies, either. I still feel that, if I can find a LOGICAL way to order it, I'd rather it be logical. That's just my Vulcan self.
