Interesting screenshot. Now what's interesting when you look at it is that this tactical display would seem to indicate more than one Defiant-class ship in the field, in the same battle.

(Given that we know the Sao Paulo was an active ship, this is possible.)

Though what's rather striking is that they're up against Hideki-class ships...what battle is this, because the Cardassians look rather outgunned in that sector.

I think it was a Maquis holo-Defiant..... still whatever..the FX dept spent all of an hour on that screen

You're right they look like Hideki fighters on the screen but actually they were Keldons and OO uber-Keldons.....

The entire episode of Defiant looks sort of thrown together, esp FX-wise

Knowing the Cardassians, I'm afraid I must agree--I think they would be more precise than that. Those are DEFINITELY Hideki-class. I know I can picture what a full tactical readout looks like, how it would work...and the level of detail would be quite a bit higher.

The Keldons in the episode belonged specifically to the Obsidian Order and they seemed to be unknown to Dukat. The ships that Dukat orders to intercept the defiant early in the episode (and when the Defiant attacks the outposts) are only identified as patrol ships. Patrol ships (from the season two episode Tribunal) are Hideki Class.

But we are not specifically told that the ship we see would be one of those previously appearing on that screen.

If the contingent of ships chasing Tom Riker included a Galor in addition to the multiple Hidekis, then it would only be natural that this bigger ship would pull ahead and be the first to catch up with Riker...
