Rush - Time Machine Tour 2010

So... The tour opened Tuesday night here in Albuquerque.. Unlike the Snakes and Arrows show a couple years ago, the crowed was much more primed this time around.

The boys were in fine form, with just a few monkeys to work out of the usually well-oiled machine. The guitar was a little low at first, but by the time the first couple of songs were out of the way, everything was fine.

Billed as the "Time Machine" tour, it's really a testing ground for some new material.. The new songs were well received and if they are any indication of the stuff that's to come in the new CD this fall, the tradition of amazing music continues.

The show started out with a new video clip featuring the "true history of the band"... I won't spoil it, but it was frakkin' hilarious..

The first half of the show was a mix of older stuff and more recent, but I was "slightly" disappointed there wasn't more old stuff mixed in..

The second half featured "Moving Pictures" from start to finish with Camera Eye being the big showpiece (at least for me).. I'll admit to being moved to tears a couple of times...

It was a magical evening and I envy those of you who have yet to see the show...

you guys are in for such a treat.. I wish they would compile all the video clips from the past couple of tours and release them.. Tired of watching hand-held scratchy sounding Harry Satchel clips on youtube...

I'm seriously considering going to Denver for a show.. Are there still tickets left? Unfortunately, I won't know if I can go until mid to late July.. Damn fire season... Until our monsoons hit, I can't leave the state.

Less than 2 months away from their stop in C-bus, and my kids are psyched!

The drum solo has some new angles to it.. I imagine there will be some more tweeks for the tour to support the new CD.. Looks to me that Neil isn't riding his bike as much any more, however.. He's getting a bit of a tummy going.. I remember when he used to ride his road bike between tour stops.. Ahh.. age.. It sucks...

I'm glad that Leave that Thing alone is being played. I love it.

Here is a negative review of the show

I'm not really a Rush fan, but this reviewer seemed to have an outright bias against the band and its fans. And I detected more than a whiff of the musical snobbery that's pretty common among those who have disdain for Rush.

Wow.. Just.. Wow... What an Ass... Totally agree that the reviewer is one of those who never gave Rush the time of day and obviously went into this with the review half written..

Yes, the first set lagged a bit.. I'll grant that.. But a lagging set from Rush still beats out a finely tuned set from Lady Gaga.. Ugh!

What he doesn't seem to realize is that most Rush fans, myself included, WANT TO HEAR THE SONGS THE WAY THEY WERE RECORDED... Sure.. There are a few songs like Closer to the Hear and Working Man that have been jazzed up a bit, but frankly, they're such simple songs to begin with, that the band must have gotten bored playing them as is, a long time ago.

Sheesh...

That's one pretty awesome setlist there! :bolian: If only they'd come down to Australia! :(

Yeah, damn straight!

I don't know how anyone can disdain Rush, their musicality is beyond question and their songs, especially on the last couple of albums, are damned good.
