We say serious things in a funny way, but when the joke comes, people stop listening. The real comedy all happens in the senate. They do .. they do one idiotic thing after another, but people listen because they say it seriously. I don't know whether we're leaving comedy to go into clown school, but all I do know is that, uh...comedians don't matter.

Well, there were times where his comedy show was pretty much the only politics-oriented show you could still take serious. And considering The Daily Show is supposed to be satire that speaks volumes.
