ENTER: Misc avatar contest – "At Night."

Yeah, well, the team here is 1) minor league and 2) the Texas Stars, not Dallas.

At least they aren't the Austin Stars, since the team is in Cedar Park. That'd be like havin' the Dallas Cowboys playin' in Arlington, or something...

:wah:

Don't remind me.

:sigh:

I drive by the big, gaping whole where the stadium once proudly stood on a semi-regular basis. I mourn each time I pass by.

I like the first one. I think it says it all.

First one it is, then!

That photo was taken by my buddy Narlen a couple of years ago. He was messin' with the digital camera on a slow night, and I didn't want my picture taken, so, of course, he gets one that makes it look like I'm asleep in the office.

eta..
Summer nights in Texas all have one thing in common:

:bolian: Not just in Texas, kiddo!

^Austin is very proud of their bats. They have the largest bat colony in the States, now, under the South Congress bridge. They put up "bat viewing" spots near the river, built a kinetic bat sculpture at the intersection, and even named their hockey team (yes, they have a hockey team) the Ice Bats.

Of course, in these parts, anything that eats mosquitoes is greatly appreciated.
Oh, yeah. purple martins are ravenous mosquito eaters, too!

Wait... the Stars?!

That's our hockey team's name. :WTF:

That's not actually uncommon, in hockey. Many AHL affiliates take on the name of their NHL club, so you've also got minor league Bruins, Penguins, Sharks, Senators, and Devils. Go back into the past, and you can find tons more, too.

heh... I was mostly giving od0 a hard time. There's some "friendly" rivalry between his town and mine. :D

And "friendly" antagonism between me & her...

Heh, fair enough. I'm not too up on the intra-Texan rivalries, I'm afraid. ;)

I'll put the poll for this up over the weekend, so there's still a day or so for any latecomers to make your job even harder. ;)

I had a couple of backup choices for this week's contest.... three in fact. In the end, I decided to go with the one I went with.
