E3 2010 thread of E3-ness and MASSIVE LEAKS

I figure it'd be easier to have one mega thread for people to post in if anything else comes up.

Anyway, here's the big leak:

Thanks to our friends in Italy, that's the new Xbox 360. Also, in related news, Natal is now known as Kinect.

New Xbox model, Natal renamed "Kinect"

News from E3 is beginning to leak out. An ad from an Italian website leaked an image of a new Xbox 360 and mentioned that it was compatible with "Kinect". While MS have yet to verify the new model, they later verified that Project Natal is going to be called Kinect, so that makes it almost certain that the new model is real as well.

The ad claims that the new model comes with built in wi-fi and that it has 250GB of storage. While it is difficult to tell at the angle in the picture, it doesn't seem like this new Xbox has MS's branded external HDD. If so that would mean that MS is dropping two peripherals that they were charging through the roof for, which would very much be welcome.

My 360 broke down last week (outside of warranty) and I've tried and failed to repair it, so I was going to get an Elite to replace it. I probably wont wait until this new model is released, the current model is better-looking in my opinion, but hopefully stores will drop the price of the current model in preparation. Or maybe MS will announce a price drop during their press conference tomorrow, that would ease the pain of having to pay for another one.

Re: New Xbox model, Natal renamed "Kinect"

Hmm, there was alot of talk about a new 360 model being bundled with the Natal (know kinect apparently). It will be interesting to see if they follow this. It would probably be the best way to get Natals out there fast. Personally, I would consider buying this new system if only because the wi-fi adapter is 100 bucks and I currently have the 20 gig harddrive  It would probably be cheaper for me to get a new system then to get a new HDD and wifi adapter

Re: New Xbox model, Natal renamed "Kinect"

VG247 claims that Kinect will ship in two SKUs, with the top-priced one (featuring a tilt motor or something) priced at $189. No confirmation yet, though, but if true, that's absolutely ridiculous.

USA Today went ahead and revealed the whole thing (minus pricing) earlier tonight:

Among games in the works:

•Kinectimals lets you train and play with 20 different virtual cats, including a lion, cheetah and tiger.

•Joyride, a racing game, lets players use their hands to hold an imaginary steering wheel — pull your hands toward you and push back out for an acceleration boost — and their bodies to execute jumps and tricks.

•Kinect Sports has six activities including boxing, bowling, beach volleyball, track and field, soccer and table tennis. To serve a volleyball, you mimic the real motion; in soccer, you can kick the ball or do a header.

•Kinect Adventures includes a river-raft time trial and obstacle course, playable by up to four players. On the raft, playing as a duo, you and a partner must lean one way or another to steer. Jumping helps the raft reach special areas for extra points.

•Dance Central, in development by MTV Games, brings a So You Think You Can Dance experience home.

•Star Wars characters and iconic Disney favorites will be featured in separate new games being developed at Microsoft in conjunction with LucasArts and Disney.
KINECTIMALS.

Microsoft's Marc Whitten credits Nintendo with setting things in motion: "They have done some amazing things and brought new people to the category. This is fundamentally different. It's (about) my body being the controller (and) being able to communicate with just my voice to the system."
Edit: I went ahead and merged the threads, so we can have a central source of E3 megaton discussion.

Looks like the bastard child of an original 360 and an old Alienware case.

It's hard to tell from the images, but the weird lines almost make it look like it can't lie flat. At least I'm hoping it's the weird lines, as a standup-only console would be a monumentally stupid move.

Did we need a new model? and Natal was a cool name the new one is crap. I think the pricing will kill it :)

Although Microsoft's Kinect / Cirque Du Soleil event is tonight, all attendees have apparently had to sign a non-disclosure agreement in effect until Tuesday.

I'm just not sold on Kinect yet. My 360 is from launch, though; if it ever dies (which it won't, knock on wood) and I have to buy a new one, then I'll give kinect a whirl if I get one that way.

I eagarly await Nintendo news, but it seems every year I am dissaponted by Nintendo at E3 so I won't hold my breath for anything, well, breath taking.

This should be a good year for Nintendo as far as E3 is concerned. Between Metroid Other M, the new Zelda that is supposedly going to be announced, and 3DS they have some good stuff to talk about

Yeah, it's airing on TV tomorrow afternoon. Which is a stupid concession for TV, but whatever. People have already posted some twitpics and are tweeting anyway.

As for the new Xbox, it doesn't surprise me. If it really is priced at $199 for the 250GB model, I might actually pick one up. I just went through an E74 error with my original '08 Elite, and the refurbished model Microsoft sent me to replace it seems kind of shaky.
