Kate Mulgrew in Tulsa for Charity

No Trek talk. Really, it would have been in bad taste given where we were and why we were there. But, she was marvelous all the same.

Her voice... in person... could melt you with it's pure awesomesauceness, by the way.
 
She's always pretty much looked like she did when she started. I like to say she has a classic beauty like Kate Hepburn or Joan Crawford. I describe Kate as a handsome woman, but that happens to be my type. ;)

IMO, it's better than a con photo because it's an event outside Trek that's close to your heart.
 
Great pic, and thanks for sharing :) You're very fortunate!

I lost a grandfather to Parkinson's, which is obviously a different illness, but it can have similar effects on the family. Good for her and you supporting that cause.

Dont you think Kate even more fits the part of an Admiral now! I think she could so easily slip back into the part of Kathryn Janeway, she just has that Aura about her.

It would be even more brilliant if the story had an link to the illness as well as Treky stuff.
 
I'll link it if/when TK puts it up. But, I actually didn't mention Trek at all. I know... weird huh? :shifty:

What kills me is that I'm wearing 2 1/2 inch heeled dress boots here, and Kate is wearing flats. She's really rather tall, which surprised me because she wore 3 inch heels on Voyager just so she wasn't tiny compared to the other people on set.

Can you imagine how tall all of those people are?!

Remember that scene in "The Gift" when Borgified Seven hops off the sickbay table to confront Janeway. Seven in Borg flats looked directly into Janeway's eyes with her high heeled boots.

IIRC, most of the men on Voy were 6 foot or over, except (?) Picardo who was 5 10ish?

That makes perfect sense. She became a lot more human to me this week. I'm still shocked at how tiny her waist is. :eek:

She didn't talk about her childhood really. She gave a brief glimpse of what the aftermath in her family was like after her mother passed. Mostly, she spoke about her mother's caregiver. It was very touching.

I hadn't realized they were all that tall.
 
She's 5 5 I believe, if what she says is true. That would place her around my height, and I've never felt especially short next to anyone I know. So she's probably pretty average.

I think JanewayRulz is right - the guys on the VOY cast were all pretty tall and broad. They must have given her those heels just so she could fit in the same camera frame. :P

In fact, that's one of the reasons. Still, I lament my own shortness. :(
 
Wow 5 ft 5, owe thats even better! Us mids to shorties (Im just under 5ft 4) its bliss to find someone 'normal' to 'look up' to.
 
Adm Hawthorne I super enjoyed reading about your lunch and meeting with Kate. Thanks so much for writing about it. You look wonderful! And so does Kate, lol (of course). And yes on the aging.. what aging? Just looks a little regal with time :)
