Geez l can not beleive this woman would be putting weight on for attetion it also states that she wants to be in the Gineness book of records too.

i am not sure if that is true or not

I could never do this and put my health at risk and it would be hard to also get around plus it would be uncomfortable

I know that some obese people have problems where they cant stop putting on weight but to do this is silly.

Heard about this woman a couple of weeks ago, I think I even saw a video of her and may have even posted a thread about this (likely in TNZ.) Utterly disgusting. IRC the news video I saw of her featured her taking a few TV dinners out of her freezer to "cook" for dinner and she eats as much in one day as Michael Phelps did. Only he augmented his high-caloric diet with extreme physical activity.

EDIT: Watched the video. Yep that's her and... :shudder: Who thought it was a good idea to feature her scantly clad in the news piece? :shudder: So much for me sleeping tonight or getting an erection ever again.

Do you really think she's putting on weight for attention? Kirstie Alley seems more like a woman who can't control her weight and is making the most of it by using it for attention, but I don't think her weight gain is intentional.

IIRC, she intentionaly put on weight to lose it as a promotion for Don't Care To Remember weight-loss plan/drink/program.

Cause that's basically what this is. There's the added element of our media's exploitative love of freak show aesthetics. But I suspect the driving force behind it is the same as it is for the millions of other people dealing with an ED.

(For more on people with severely disordered eating, and media environments which enable and promote this instead of accepting the worth of people of all sizes, cf the entire western world.)

I bet she's also encouraged by those who actually are turned on by this. Go to Deviantart.com & look at all the galleries of fat & inflation art & all the positive comments it gets. (And I see she even has her own website.) There are men & women out there that do find this look attractive(hey whatever floats their boat.) But damn, its sooo unhealthy.

I just don't understand people like this. I have a weight problem. I am a big girl, and this just disgusts me.

Why...?

Why not just pierce yourself up or get tatts or something? Why slowly kill yourself for the attention?

^Well, she clearly has some denial issues going on. She commented that the weight boosting powder was an "unhealthy" way to gain weight, she pointed out the spattering of iceberg lettuce and slice of tomato on her two tuna melts and sub sandwiches as plenty of healthy vegetables, and she indeed insists that she is healthy saying that she visits the doctor every three months. Of course she does, she's diabetic -- generally the need to visit the doctor every three months is not considered a sign of health. So yes, she's in denial.

Also, as others have commented, her perceptions of herself are skewed in other ways, likely due to a lifetime of mixed messages from the media and the people in her life. She is conforming to an ideal -- an extreme ideal of sexiness held by a minority of men, but really no different than an anorexic supermodel conforming to an ideal of super-thinness. The only real difference is that more people accept the super thin (on a pop-culture/media level) than do the super-fat. Both can be glamorized.

People can be happy and beautiful fat or thin, but the extremes are dangerous, and what is truly sad about this story is that she either refuses or is unable to see the danger. She is risking leaving that beautiful girl motherless.

It isnt shocking but it is sad that she has to do this to show people where she is today .

It also shows where we are today on the way we treat people who are obese and how we center our attention on being skinny.

look at the mags and you will see how a skinny woman is treated to a obese woman.

Also if you go into a shop who would you look down at a woman who is over weight or a woman who is slim

This is wanting attention because she is sad inside and is punishing herself by doing this and showing others how she is feeling as a person.

I figure she'll regret what she's done when she starts having severe medical problems in the future. Her body will say "No. Just quit it already." at some point. I love Shallow Hal because it's shows perfectly how people are when it comes to weight. I have a soft spot for that movie for having the courage to say what it did.
