Abu Duabi Leanig Tower beats Pisa

Here it is, in case anyone's interested:

I always thought that the Tower of Pisa was in Paris.

Sorry about that.

Thankyou for linking up those pictures they look cool

Pisa and Paris do both start with "P". Much like how the pizza was invented in Pittsburgh.

You're welcome. :)

Abu Dhabi has some pretty amazing architectural projects underway in case you're interested in seeing some more.
That Abu Dhabi Performing Arts Center is one I'd like to see built.

There have also been a couple of interesting programs on the National Geographic Channel about buildings constructed in that area, including the "leaning tower" shown in your pictures above. They're inventing new methods to make these buildings happen.

This looks fun, too.

I suppose the major difference is that the building in Abu Dhabi is designed to lean whereas the Leaning Tower of Pisa wasn't certainly not designed to.

I like the Dancing House of Prague.

I wonder how they define "leaning tower." 'Cause Montreal's Olympic Stadium, at 35 degrees and 175 metres, would certainly seem to be taller...

There seems to be some terminological hair-splitting involved; apparently a distinction is made between an inclined tower (the tallest example of which is the one at Montreal's Olympic Stadium) and a leaning tower. What makes a structure one rather than the other is less clear, but inclined towers are always built that way intentionally while leaning towers may do so in spite of the original design intent. The Capital Gate tower in Abu Dhabi, because of its staggered-floors design and "pre-cambered core", may technically fit neither category. (Or both?)

^ Heh. Architectural hair-splitting is weird. I'd think, then, that the tower in Dubai would be "inclined," since that's how it was designed, but then what do I know?

I'm curious, are the floors in this new tower at an angle in relation to the ground? Because if they aren't, I wouldn't call that a "leaning" tower... just shaped to look bent...

Exactly, the tower in Pisa is partially fallen over. The tower on Abu Duabi just looks like it's partially fallen.
