I tried to read Tatv at memory prime and I couldn't do it. Is it my imagination or could it have been vastly improved by having Riker and Troi revealed at the end as playing in a holographic simulation. They could have played a villian and a hero similarly. It just kills me that they missed the mark like this. The way is was written was so languid and self indulgant that it was unreadable

So you've never seen the episode, and you still know you hate it? How's that possible? I'd venture that the written summaries on Memory Alpha (if that's what you mean by memory prime) are pretty dry for even the best episodes.
I reckon you like Enterprise a lot more than me, but based on my limited viewing of Season 2, I've had the same thought. My favourite episodes of the first two seasons are all in Season 2.
This is 100% true. Berman and Braga were no angels, but it was UPN's silly decision-making which caused the downfall of the show. They were the ones who wanted the Akira class ship as the NX-01. They wanted the Temporal Cold War storyline (because they felt just a show set in the 22nd century wasn't good enough), even though it was never thought out ahead of time and went nowhere. They wanted to make Star Trek "sexier," even though sex is not what a Star Trek viewing audience wanted (and the "sex" they did incorporate was just childishly gratuitous). They were far more interested in trying to show the cast in their underwear or to show Jolene Blalock's ass-crack than trying to show the formation of the Federation. They came up with the Xindi plotline, even though the Romulan War would have been a more coherent idea.
IMHO, there were some great episodes in Season 2! "Carbon Creek," "Minefield," "Dead Stop," "Singularity," "The Catwalk," "Cease Fire," "Cogenitor," "First Flight." Every episode of that season has something in it that I liked.
Yeah, I'll never get why writers for Trek shows couldn't seem to write a mature romantic relationship to save their lives.
I read somewhere... don't remember where, so perhaps someone can clarify this... that the Romulan War was kept off limits so there could be a movie about it. But then the movie idea was nixed (too late to replace the Xindi War). And then ENT was canned just as it was gearing up to do it.
It would have been glorious.But still, I thought the Xindi storyline was terrific.
i really did like what the xindi story line turned out to be. i still think at first they were playing around with different ideas until they went down the degra as oppenheimer path.
as for interference there is in early second season where braga mentions they wanted to center more stories around vulcans and vulcan but got orders (at least for awhile) from the brass not too.
and as much as they irrate me about certain things they had a hand in one of the best episodes shuttle pod one.

The first half of season 2 is the worst stretch of Trek I have ever seen. I couldn't keep going and ended up just picking the show up again with the season 2 finale and the Xindi arc. It's a worse stretch of episodes than anything on Voyager imo, and I have a pretty low opinion of that show (and in fact like it a lot less than ENT overall).
I picked up ENT only fairly recently on DVD and found season 1 to be amiable though unremarkable. Still, I liked a lot of the technical aspects of the show and found the cast of characters fairly appealing overall. Then the bottom just drops out in early season 2. I found it to be even more stale and uninspired than most of Voyager, and that's saying a lot. Fortunately, the series does find some direction later on.
That gave me an idea for a poll:

Good idea? Bad idea? It's all in good fun, but I don't know what the etiquette is on something like this.
I guess it depends on whose underwear and ass crack we're talking about. If we're talking about a Pakled ship, it's a bad thing. The Enterprise...not necessarily.
Uh, you can make a poll about it if you want, but I don't think I'm going to, since I already gave my opinion about it. However, I'm not interested in turning something done in good fun into an ENTERPRISE-bashing thread.

Yeah, it's only been recently that the idea of Berman and Braga not being the devil incarnate has even been considered by many on the board. And by recent, I mean like the two years. And yes, that does include myself. I feel bad for most of the slamming I did of them back in the day now.

No, I don't believe that's true. I'm pretty sure the idea for the Romulan War movie came about after ENT was cancelled, not during the show's run. And quite frankly, after reading the plot, I'm glad we got Star Trek '09 instead.
What was the plot?
Why not have both? Have a scene where the crew is attending the sighing of the Federation charter, and have Jolene Blalock and Linda Park attend in their underwear? No need to see the guys in theirs. I wouldn't want to.
Actually I have...but looking at the cast of Enterprise, it's pretty obvious it wouldn't be as unpleasant as all that.
I'll see that, and raise you this: a delegation from Betazed is called in at the last moment to smooth over some ruffled diplomatic feathers, and convinces everyone that since this is a historic coupling of several planets, the ceremony should be conducted like a traditional Betazed wedding.
On second thought, I don't even want to think about what a Tellarite looks like naked.
