All these years I've been on America Online dial-up internet. You're jealous, I know! But today I finally got high speed internet for the first time since the college dorm seven years ago!!!

I can finally actually watch VIDEOS on the internet!

What the best sites? What sites have the free episodes of TV shows? And the funny Youtube type videos I see on Tosh.O?

Is it true that EVERY episode of Daily Show and Colbert Report are online for free???? Which website would that be on?

Also, how about comic books? Are those online for free at all?

Hulu.com, at least if you are in the US.

And the funny Youtube type videos I see on Tosh.O?

Well, youtube.com is a good place to start.

Comic strips are available online, for free. Lots of them. Just google "webcomics".

Not the major ones, generally. You have to pay for those.

You'll need to watch "Star Wreck - In the Pirkinning", which you -amongst other things- can find here. (But you'll need a torrent client to download that.)

Of course you'll want to watch The Orion Conspiracy -perhaps even in HD!?- which you'll find here.

But basically you can just google whatever you want to watch -or go to the funny video thread, where you'll find numerous different video-sites in use.

I don't remember ever seeing someone use dial-up internet before, I do remember someone telling me that you couldn't use your phone with it.

The internet has gotten faster though, our highspeed got a "boost" over here just awhile ago. We have something like high speed lite and high speed max. Weird, huh?

Anyway, you should become a youtube junky. Its worth spending hours on watching random stuff.

Dial-up is atrocious. Imagine waiting several minutes for every page to load. I used to take bathroom and food breaks while waiting for pages to load. And of course, signing on requires loud noises from the modem and getting kicked off any time the phone rings. I'm just surprised you've never encountered it at all.

I moved between my grandparents and parents homes almost yearly so at-home computers were never at home for me until highschool. That might explain somethings. In my private grade schools/high schools it wasn't there either, though. Or I just don't remember it.

I keep looking and still can't find anything helpful in that post. One wonders why SmoothieX felt it necessary to waste everybody's time by posting it.

For webcomics, I like xkcd a lot as somebody else noted. Also A Distant Soil which is serialized and Evil Inc. which only has short scenarios. There are LOTS more.

If more Americans were aware of that fact then maybe more Americans would be encouraging that something be done about it.

I still have a dial up account and have used a couple of times in the past year when high speed was unavailable.
