The list of candidates is limited to 80, so don't blame me too much if I left out some of your favorites. You can always add new candidates as a member... or ask me to add them.

Kathryn Janeway, Ellen Ripley and Catwoman. The first two are pretty obvious but Michelle Pfeiffer makes the list because I'm an incredibly shallow person.

Heeeey...they got the top three right! How often does that happen on teh internets? Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor, and everyone's favorite sithspawn space-bitch princess, exactly as I woulda ranked them.

I'd put Dana Scully #4, and Laura Roslin should be higher in the list. but overall, it looks like the voting is proceeding intelligently with no assistance needed from me.

You need to add Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, Sun Kwon and Juliet Burke.

Starbuck is already there. She is currently at #30.

I thought about adding Sun and Juliet, but then I thought if I go down that road I'd have to add Kate, too... and I already have 80 candidates, which is the limit. Any Rankopedia member can add candidates, but since there are already 80, that means that one of those who haven't had any votes yet will be deleted.

Kate Austen should be on the list, though, along with Juliet and Sun, as well as Cordelia Chase.

Emma Peel wasn't on the list, but I voted for her anyway.


Fun poll, though, although I'm not sure Pris counts as a "heroine."

She almost was, but then I couldn't decide if I should include Spy-Fy, like The Avengers, La Femme Nikita, Alias...

The trouble with Rankopedia is that there can only be 80 candidates, and adding anyone new means deleting some of those with no votes. Survival of the fittest!

Well, isn't she? She is one of the rebelling slaves, that sounds like a heroine to me.

I only tried to leave out outright villains. Ambiguous characters are welcome...

Cordelia Chase has been added (and has gotten some votes), and so has Emma Peel, so you can now actually vote for them. I also added Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell and Lyra Silvertongue at Gaith's request, but if she doesn't get any votes I might delete them soon, too.

I will probably add the women from Lost, but that means deleting a few more candidates without votes.

I know it may not seem like it; but technically speaking: Sydney Bristow from Alias is a science fiction / fantasy heroine.

Wikipedia has the following entry in regards to Alias...

"A major plotline of the series was the search for and recovery of artifacts created by Milo Rambaldi, a Renaissance-era character with similarities to both Leonardo da Vinci and Nostradamus. This plot and some technologies used in the series pushed Alias into the genre of science fiction."

So... would it be okay (i.e. cool) if I added her to the list?
Or is she more spy than sci-fi?

^ I was wondering the same about Spy-Fy shows like Alias and La Femme Nikita, which also featured some SciFi plots and technologies, as far as I remember (and I would vote for Nikita if I included her), but I couldn't decide, especially with the field already being overcrowded as it is, with the 80 candidates limit. It's the same reason I almost included Emma Peel at the start, then changed my mind, before including her at Greg Cox's request...

It's the greatest science fiction and fantasy screen heroines, though, and I don't think Ms. Marvel's appearances in The Super Hero Squad Show qualify her. Now, when she makes her movie debut, as I'm sure she will eventually, that'll be another story.

I think Sydney Bristow should definitely be on the list. Alias easily had enough sci-fi elements to qualify her.

Another major heroine who should be there is Lois Lane, who has had a number of memorable screen portrayals.

I've used her in many avatars, which appear on people's monitors, therefore she counts.

Yes, and this is a problem, since I'm not sure if to put them all as one entry, or to pick one particular... and it doesn't help that I am not really that familiar with different Superman adaptations.

Yeah, there have been a bunch of Superman adaptations. I see you've put multiple actresses for some of the characters, but in the case of Lois there have been half a dozen actresses who've played the part in live action, plus several animated incarnations.

The most popular versions of the character are Teri Hatcher's portrayal in Lois & Clark, Erica Durance's in Smallville, and the Dana Delaney-voiced iteration in Superman: The Animated Series. Margot Kidder's portrayal of Lois in the Christopher Reeve films has a lot of admirers, but a fair number of detractors as well. Kate Bosworth's Lois in Superman Returns was pretty widely disliked. Many still have fond memories of the earliest live action portrayals of Lois Lane by Noell Neill and Phyllis Coates.
