I was going to make it just classic Who, but surely no one would actually vote for Stolen Earth/Journey's End anyway. Right?

Anyway, for me it's between Revelation and Remembrance. Though Genesis is usually recognised as the best (and don't get me wrong, it's great), I think those two just edge it for me. In my view:

Genesis: Great stuff, and introduced Davros. Tells a great origin story.
Destiny: A real step backwards. Made the Daleks into unthreatening twits fighting a war against Boney M. I mean, the Doctor chucks a hat onto one's eyestalk and pushes it away. Ridiculous. Davros is a bit off as well.
Resurrection: A bit boring to be honest, even with a lot of violence. On the upside, the Daleks definitely feel dangerous again. Davros is back on form. Still, not great.
Revelation: This wasn't originally going to be a Dalek story and you could argue it shows, but after two duds it's great to have them in such a fantastic and fairly gruesome story. Saward very much redeems himself after the snorefest of Resurrection.
Remembrance: Almost certainly McCoy's best outing, and another brilliant story. Again, the Daleks feel dangerous. Carries on the Imperial/Renegade bit. Good stuff.
Stolen Earth/Journey's End: Stupid nonsense. Even though the Daleks supposedly have Davros enslaved in the basement, there's a console down there that can blow them up and all their ships. Makes Destiny look like a classic. That said, Bleach makes a great Davros. That's about the only upside though. And getting some planets together means you can destroy all reality? I could go on...

Genesis, but I have to say, for all of the flaws of The Stolen Earth/Journey's End Davros is not one of them and I thought he was brilliant in it.

They really need to bring back the Movellans. I'd love to see a modern take on the disco robots!

I loved the new Davros and his new abilities but I did not like the overall story of TSE/JE.

Remembrance.

Genesis is all right, but there's way too much padding in it. The Davros material is great, though.

I've seen all of them except Genesis ironically, and frankly none of them are very good. Except for Bleach's Davros that is. I gather though that I will like Genesis if I ever get round to.

Destiny in particular I thought was dreadful.

I really loved "Journey's End", which is apparently a minority opinion. "Genesis of the Daleks" was an old school classic, but I just recently rewatched it and half the series is about Sarah Jane and Harry doing slave labor and dying of radiation...

I actually have a soft spot for Destiny, it might be nostalgia but I love the basic premise, and come on; Dalek suicide bombers?

I have to say "Genesis of the Daleks", although Julian Bleach totally rocked as Davros in TSE/JE. I'd love to see JB reprise the role again at some point in the future, and hopefully in a story that isn't quite so over the top.

Yeah, he was well acted and looked great. That said, his plan was a that of a moron, and screaming about the destruction of reality made him seem like a bloody pantomime villain. Everything good about him was rather in spite of the rest of the episode.

:borg:

Come to think of it, who are the modern equivalent of Boney M? Could black up The Saturdays I suppose.

Yeah.

I think it effectively shows what Skaro was like to bring about the beginning of the Daleks. And it's always nice to see a giant clam.

"SEEK! JIHAD! EXTERMINATE!"
i like Genesis and Destiny, but unlike you i don't hate RTD-era Who and i love epic, over-blown fan-wanky finales. :p
It was worse than that in its fanwank though, because it was purely new Who fantoss. People like me love getting classic Who references in; it makes it feel like it's part of the same continuity. But getting the one-dimensional Torchwood losers and the snivelling kids off SJA into the same episode? I couldn't care less. An ego wank for RTD, and yet he still saw fit to indulge himself with that travesty of a Tennant regeneration.

Perhaps bring him back, create a new race of Daleks, and wipe out the 'New Paradigm'.

Genesis, followed by Remembrance.

The best part of Destiny was Romana's regeneration scene. Other than that, well, the Daleks vs Boney M sums it up perfectly. And the rock, paper scissors bit was cringe worthy.

Genesis: A classic episode. As far as I'm concerned, the only story featuring Davros that is genuinely good. :techman:
Destiny: It really has absolutely nothing to say about the Daleks, Davros or the Doctor. It's competently done but it feels like a contractual obligation. :borg:
Resurrection: It looks pretty good, with some decent performances, but it's extremely dull.
Revelation: Cringeworthy panto nonsense. It's cartoonish, derivative and an embarrassment for all people involved. Pity those tapes were not erased. :brickwall:
Remembrance: A blockbuster action movie filmed with no money. It's taking itself so seriously and it's so self-referential it basically turns Doctor Who into a parody of itself.
Stolen Earth/Journey's End: It basically has the same problems as Remembrance, but with more money and much better performances from the regulars. :wtf:[/QUOTE]

Stolen Earth/Journey's End
Yeah, but have you even seen all the others?

Why do I feeling you made this entire thread to complain about those 2 episodes :p .

First of all I've only seen them out of the poll and I am working my way through classic who near end of 1st meeting with the Daleks. Say what you want about Journey's End but Stolen Earth alone is enough to win my vote.

^Yup, actually I agree--Stolen Earth is a fantastic episode. RTD all over unfortunately, great set up poor resolution (and being honest Moffat has been guilty of that on occasion)

Not true at all really. I originally was going to make it for the classic Who Dalek stories from Genesis onwards, then I realised I couldn't call that the colour Dalek stories without including the Pertwees, so I made it the Davros/Daleks stories. Then I thought I may as well include Stolen Earth/Journey's End because it completes all the Davros stories, includes new Who making it potentially more popular as a topic, and I thought surely no one would actually vote for it anyway. There's the thought process.

As for voting for it on the strength of The Stolen Earth alone, that's all well and good, but that's less than half the story. Having a promising set-up is one thing, but if you don't have a decent conclusion then what's the point? I have a story about when I watched The Stolen Earth and Journey's End when it aired, but I'll probably save it until I get there in my review thread. In about 2015.

^ I was just joking about the "Why do I feeling you made this entire thread to complain about those 2 episodes", not meant to come off as a cheap shot :).

What Doctors are those stories from ? as i said earlier near the end of the 1st Doctor metting the Daleks on my classic Who run.
