The Big Bang Theory: SEASON 3 FINALE

I think they should wait at least a year before Sheldon and his maybe-girlfriend do it. Hell, it'll take five months for them to work up to a kiss. :rommie:

i can see it happening slowly and being a unconventional relationship.
but will somehow work

Is it just me, or was it more Leonard who used Penny than the other way around? In that condition, she couldn't possibly take responsibility for her own actions.

She was a bit drunk, but she was not so intoxicated she was incapable of making choices. If she had been driving a car in that state, no one would claim she couldn't possibly take responsibility for her actions then.

Wouldn't that be quite a serious DUI?

Yes it would, that's the point. If she's responsible for her actions while driving she's also responsible for her actions when sleeping with Leonard.

Exactly. She was certainly drunk enough to be incapable of coordinated physical movement, but she was not so drunk as to have been rendered incognizant.

Leonard knew what he was getting.

He could have said 'no' but he thought it'd be more fun to have drunken sex. So now he's shocked that 'drunken sex' really is just 'drunken sex?' I know he's supposed to be a bit clueless but are we supposed to still believe he's that stupid after all this time?

I don't buy it. He made a bad choice. Period.

But you don't want to blame him for his choice. It's ok to blame Penny for her actions because she was only a "little" drunk. But fully-sober Leonard gets off scott free for his choices? How does that make sense?

Why is "sort-of-drunk Penny" more responsible than "fully-sober Leonard?"

Oh, sure. They both did. I wouldn't contest that -- I just contest the idea that Penny does not share any responsibility for their choice to have drunken sex.

But you don't want to blame him for his choice.

Ummm, where did I say or imply that?

The point is: Penny knew and knows that Leonard isn't over her, yet she still chose (however impaired) to take advantage of his feelings for momentary satisfaction with no intention of continuing the relationship which he still hopes to pursue with her. Leonard wasn't using her for sex, he was accepting her with the intent that it be a return to an ongoing physical and romantic relationship. Leonard is too emotionally weak and socially unsure to ever even attempt to manipulate someone like that. At the end he genuinely thought if all she wanted was sex, he should be able to ask the same of her but was obviously wrong because yes, there was a double standard.

a lot of people are not rational when they are drunk. it is one reason they go off and drive.
their ability to understand just how impaired their reactions is off kilter.
they dont think in the same rational manner. it is why for a long time (at least where i was raised) that you dont have sex with someone if they are drunk.

i suspect after penny sobered up she was horriifed at what she did and at this time dosnt know how to deal with what she did to leonard.

if you do have sex with someone that is drunk one has to be prepared the reaction the next day will be similar to this.

Pliny the Elder said "in vino veritas" - in wine, there is truth.

I'd like to see Wil Wheaton's meddling with Penny and Leonard come to light.

She wasn't THAT fucked up. Fewer inhibitions does not equal "can't take responsibility for her own actions". She wasn't messed up on date rape drugs or semi-unconscious.

I've had plenty of drunken sex in my time, there is a difference between that and what you're insinuating.

I don't know.... I don't know if I'd like for Sheldon to get a girlfriend. Especially if it's just another Sheldon in a woman's body. I'm so over the Leonard/Penny thing. Let it die!

WHEATONNNNN!

I didn't want to start a new thread, but has anyone seen the unaired pilot?

Maybe it's malaise with the current version of the show, but I actually enjoyed it. It's very rough around the edges and "Katie" probably doesn't pop as much as Penny (probably because she has a deeper voice), but I think it might have worked. Certainly the introduction of a female nerd in the little group is enough to change things up as well.

Yeah, it's a neat little artifact anyway. Nothing about it is recognizable - even Sheldon has had sex in this version.
