Once again, the Los Angeles Police department has murdered another citizen. 30 police shot a bi-polar man down in a hail of bullets. They claim he was wielding a knife. A fucking knife, Shit if 30 police were that scared of one man with a knife, this can only be classified as a Gangland style murder. Next time they should call me, I'm pretty sure I could have taken him down by myself. This is getting too common, who's next?

Well at least he wasn't as dangerous as the fucking homeless woman wielding a screwdriver. A danger they were able to contain by blowing her brains out, also in a hail of bullets from 17 police hiding in safety, behind the doors of their Policecruisers, thank god, to think, she might have scratch someones paint job with that thing.



We need to take the guns from the police, like the Bobbies in London, because clearly they are not capable of making that life or death decision on their own. Only a SWAT style unit should actually be allowed to carry wepons of leathal force.

The officer that they were referring to, as being injured in the fray, actually was an overweight officer, who slipped on the pavement after he struggled to get his fat ass, out of the car, and trying to take cover from the guy with the knife. That was shown live on the news, last night, as we watched the chase. That is not in any of the footage they are showing this morning. I guess it's easier to justify the shooting, if it sounds like the officers were somehow injured or in danger during the incident. I think the only thing that officer had to fear was, a sale at Krispy Kreme.

It appears he was blocking freeway traffic, which calls for justified Homicide. so either, the police had to take him out, or a passing motorist being delayed going to work in morning rush hour traffic. We don't play that crap here in LA, don't get in my way when I'm driving or I'll kill you.

Don't wanna get shot, don't go after officers. This makes me recall a few years ago. A guy had killed an officer and his K-9 unit. There was a man hunt. They LEOs found the bad guy who came after them. They let loose with about 80 or so rounds. The press asked the Sheriff why his deputies shot the murder with 80 rounds. The Sheriffs reply was "That is all they ammunition they had available to them at the time"

Hm, this does sound excessive to kill the man instead of trying to resolve the situation without a shoot-out, but, how many shots were actually fired, how many cops fired their weapons?

They Should Not Be Allowed To Carry Guns.

In some situations, an armed officer may be a good deterrent when facing determined/violent people. But as these recurring stories prove, they're not responsible enough to use their side arms.

A hail of bullets is grossly unnecessary force. Rather like defending oneself against a robber by stabbing them 100 times. Grossly unnecessary force is an action motivated by passion, not by reason.

LAPD is a lazy department, whose officers do not value life. Discharging a weapon is the laziest way of dealing with a troublesome person.

If their mentality improves, I may reconsider, but for now I strongly oppose LAPD officers being armed.

I think the normal beat cop should be armed only with non-leathal weapons, and if they do carry one, it should be locked in the trunk, and used for emergencies only. It should only be unlocked by a remote trigger, activated from HQ by a watch commander.

We have SWAT to deal with anything above that.

Thinking traffic cops needs guns to enforce traffic laws, because every now and then someone shot a cop somewhere 5 years ago, is ludicrous, this line of thinking is like a kid, with a bat who keeps hitting other kids in the playground upside the head, instead of taking the bat away, you justify him keeping it because there was a bear attack once, several years ago. But we know for sure he's hitting all the kids upside the head now, and should be stopped.

Incidentally, a few years back I was on the telly after having woken up to the sound of gunfire. There was a police officer out on the footpath shooting out the tires of a truck which was evidently not under responsible control. The driver at that point got out and ran for it and I saw another car cut him off at the end of the street and the officers there took him into custody. Later I heard that there was going to be an investigation as to whether the officer was right to draw and discharge his firearm under the circumstances. Never did hear what came of it. Interesting way to start the day, though.

Yeah, there are a bunch of confounding factors there, starting with the fact that police in Australia don't generally have to worry about being shot at in the line of duty. I'm just a sucker for comparative statistics, it's all very interesting.

On late-night television here we sometimes get those police chase shows from the United States. I usually can't help but watch.

I come from a family that had a 40-year police veteran in it, and grew up in a rather unpleasant section of a city in which the "good" parts weren't always safe. And I can tell you with absolute conviction that an unarmed police officer entering many of the neighborhoods in my hometown will be a dead police officer. It won't even be a contest. Moreover, armed police are sometimes the only thing standing in the way of crime expanding even further than it already has.

I'll grant that there are situations in which police exercise excessive force or take inappropriately lethal measures, but this isn't one of them. If you engage an officer of the law with a potentially deadly weapon, you will die. The police aren't there to diagnose your mental problems -- they merely assess your mental state in order to judge the level of threat you present. Too high? Good bye. It's a tragedy, sure, but a justified one.

Maybe it's my compassion clouding my judgment. But when someone, incoherent, and babbling comes toward me, and 29 of my trigger happy buddies, carrying a knife, and we have a guns. I think it would be a red flag, that he has a bigger problem, and i would pull my taser out, and drop his ass. I'm sure his family would appreciate my restraint.

worse case I would have shot him in the leg, or legs, i think that would have pretty much stopped his forward momentum, ya think?


just saying, 30-1 is not a fair fight anyway, especially against trained gangsters monkeys in uniforms.
