Unpopular Trek Opinions — What Are Yours?

Star Trek never ever done women properly. Where were the Carrie Bradshaw's in Star Trek? Major Kira? Captain Janeway??? :guffaw:

Name one woman in Star Trek who was obsessed with shoes?

You might be able to make an argument for Lwaxana Troi because she was obsessed with men, but I think in season 4's Half A Life they really ruined her character by giving her so much depth and feeling.

Even the guest stars were ridiculous - K'Ehleyr and Shelby etc.

I couldn't agree with you more.

My unpopular opinion--I liked Worf, but I hated the episodes that tried to deal with Klingons as a whole. I hated the brother episodes, and I hated the father episodes.

Hoshi Sato was cute...but she wasn't 'stop-all-engines-cease-fire' hot....

Actually, if Yun-jin Kim was in the role, we'd have something to discuss....(However, Kim wouldn't/shouldn't be a mere 'Ensign;' maybe Lt. Commander...)

I wouldn't mind serving under her, for that matter...

Or over...

Or behind.....

Alright, TMI....

Hmmm, machines that construct food molecule by molecule vs. withering dirty leaves and filthy unhealthy animals chopped and heated together... It's like saying a giant sand castle pummeled together by giant baby hands is superior to a house built brick by brick. Or that you don't need chemotherapy to cure cancer but natural nuts and berries.
Mmmm, yeah, it's a well known fact that best tastes are those artificially produced...:p I feel this every time when I feel that beautifully fake taste of a strawberry milkshake or pudding that makes me feel like I'm chewing a gum... I wonder why anyone would ever want to eat those horrible juicy, sweet, fresh real strawberries. :rommie:

You don't work in a publicity department of a food corporation by any chance? ;)

Ok, here goes:

1. The 2 Star Trek actresses I'd LEAST like to have sex with are Jolene Blalock and Jeri Ryan.
2. Star Trek-TMP was the GREATEST Star Trek movie, EVER!!!
3. Star Trek-TOS Season 3 was the best of the 3 seasons, and Fred Frieberger is a Genius!!
4. The Devil In The Dark was the WORST Star Trek-TOS episode.
5. Star Trek 09 had the GREATEST script and story of ANY Star Trek movie.
6. I don't think Time Travel is used ENOUGH in Star Trek.
7. I think Jonathan Frakes looked better cleanshaven.
8. Spock's Brain is the GREATEST TOS episode.
9. I liked Deanna Troi's hairdo in TNG Season 1.
10. I though Star Trek 2-The Wrath of Khan sucked Donkey Balls!!
11. Star Trek 3-The Search For Spock is the best of the first six movies!
12. Christopher Plummer was the worst Klingon, EVER!!
13. John Colicos is the second worst Klingon, EVER!!
14. The Romulans were used TOO much.
15. The Klingons weren't used ENOUGH.
16. The Borg are the WORST Star Trek villains of ALL time!
17. Neelix and Nog are both BRILLIANT characters that weren't used ENOUGH!
18. Canon is totally IRRELIVANT!
19. Star Trek-TAS is the GREATEST of all the series!!
20. Picard should have been played as an ENGLISHMAN with a FRENCH accent!!

HE, HE:lol:

I was super pissed off when Jadzia Dax died and I didn't warm up or like the new, younger Dax.

You know, I'm only with you halfway here. I hated that Jadzia was killed off. But what REALLY cheesed me off was that they replaced her with somebody that almost, almost, makes me wish she had never been there at all.

What can I say? I loved Jadzia, but REALLY loved Ezri.

How about these:

1. The nuEnterprise design from Star Trek 09 is the GREATEST ever!!
2. The Enterprise E is the WORST design ever!
3. I wasn't bothered at all in Star Trek 09 when Vulcan blew up, Amanda died and we found out Spock and Uhura were doing each other, or that Engineering looked like a water treatment plant.
4. Nero was the GREATEST Star Trek villain EVER!
5. Shinzon was the NEXT best villain EVER!
6. I thought that the nuEnterprise's bridge looking like an Ipod store was a brilliant example of set design.
7. Star Trek 09 didn't have ENOUGH lens flares.
8. Centaurian Slugs from Star Trek 09 were obviously NOT inspired by Ceti Eels from Star Trek 2.
9. It didn't bother me AT ALL that Harry Kim was never promoted in the entire run of Voyager.
10. The character of Seven of Nine was obviously added due to the new dramatic possibilities the character had, NOT her smoking hot body.
11. It doesn't bother me AT ALL that Capt. Kirk's shirt gets ripped whenever he gets in a fight.
12. Enterprise does NOT create any continuity problems.
13. Ferengi are NOT AT ALL annoying.
14. It doesn't bother me that most food shown in TOS looked like bread soaked in food dye...oh, wait...it was!
15. TOS was not sexist AT ALL!
16. I really missed Tasha Yar after they killed her off.
17. I would've missed Wesley if they killed him off, too!
18. DS9 was obviously NOT inspired by Babylon 5.
19. I would have preferred to see Jack Lord play Capt. Kirk.
20. Star Trek-TMP did NOT utilize elements of The Changling, The Doomsday Machine or The Immunity Syndrome!

Ho, Ho:guffaw:

1. I dont like TOS at all
2. I think the first two seasons of TNG are actually good
3. Enterprise and voyager arent that bad.

Nice that you didn't quote the next paragraph of my reply as it would have sunk this phony argument and saved time. But then I guess BB's aren't about talking with people so much as at them aren't they?

Well, given that cancerous cells are getting taken care of by your body's immune system all the time, and that chemotherapy breaks down said system, it is highly possible that in many instances, natural nuts and berries just might work better...:shifty:

Right and if you or anyone in your family ever gets any kind of cancer, I expect you to remember this thread and forgo any kind of professional Western medicine in favor of age-old Eastern tea recipes and berries.

Come on!
It's a metaphor, and I doubt/hope you don't buy your automatic cliched reply either.

...You guys are what the :klingon: emoticon is all about.

:rommie:

Mmm, yeah, medical procedures and creating food tastes are so amazingly similar. Oh, I forgot, ridiculous comparisons and faulty logic take precedence over real experience. :vulcan:

I expect from you a full essay on how nature sucks and everything artificial is much better. We'll probably all be replacing our inferior natural limbs and organs with clearly superior artificial ones as soon as the technology becomes developed enough. Breasts today, everything tomorrow...

But then I guess BB's aren't about talking with people so much as at them aren't they?
You would know, wouldn't you?

1. Generations is the best movie ever
2. Nemesis is the second best
3. TWOK, First Contact and XI are overrated
4. TFF is the best TOS movie
5. Enterprise is good
6. The E-E is so far the best starship design.
7. I'm split over the Federation/Cardassian/Maquis situation
8. Early TNG aliens are super cheesy
9. TUC is boring
10. I like Ezri, but I hate the fact that Jadzia was killed off.

I don't think either of those opinions would be considered 'unpopular'. You're SUPPOSED to feel split about the Maquis/Federation/Cardassian situation, as all three had a legitimate position and reasons for their actions.

And I thought it was rather universally agreed that early TNG aliens were kind of lame... tried way too hard to replicate the feel of TOS aliens in an age where it's audience had come to expect better from the production department. And where the makeup or creature design failed, the written portrayal of aliens went way too far into the 'planet of hats' motif... focusing on one personality trait and writing the entire species around it. Granted, things didn't improve much later on, but you can tell they at least tried to introduce variation into teh characterizations later on... Look at the Ferengi in early TNG and at the end of DS9, for example.

Didn't say I wouldn't get surgery, just not the chemo.;)
