The Justice cameos were a bit "meh" but if they weren't there we would be all saying "Where was the League?" So this way the story stays focused on Clark, and douche or not, it should be. And we can comfortably accept that the League(s) were doing their thing offstage.
I had to wait to watch it until just now, I recorded it until my daughter got home today to watch with me. So I looked carefully at the whole dagger thing at the end. Zod and Clark both got depowered as soon as he unsheathed it, or at least got weakened. The dagger proximity was what kept the transport from grabbing them. The Kandorians were leaving one by one, not en mass, so Clark and Zod were last anyway. I think there was maybe one extra second that seemed a bit too long before he unsheathed the dagger, but on the whole it made sense.
I agree that Clark grabbed Zod's hand and stabbed himself.
I thought overall that Clark did de-douche a lot this episode, his speech to Zod in the fortress just before he found Tess was the first time he's made sense all year. I think it was better than the gazelle speech, really I do.
He should have told Lois, yes, but if he'd told her he probably wouldn't have been able to bring himself to leave. He was shutting down his feelings and closing her off. He hadn't wanted to face her even, Ollie had to get him to man up for that.
I liked how Lois caught on to Zod as soon as she touched his hand, it led into the kiss with Clark nicely.
I think it's cool that Lois will actually know, but Clark won't know that she knows. She won't be out trying to prove it because she understands already why he wants it to stay secret. It will be a bit like when Chloe first found out, and Lois will eventually get frustrated and call him out.
I liked the opening dream scene well enough, but I got a bigger thrill when Clark opened the box from his mom.
I liked it tons more than the Doomsday finale. Super.
