Doesn't Zod use his English accent to speak to Lois? She should have picked up on this.

In fairness, she has only talked to the Blur through voice modulation. Now, my knowledge in this is limited, but how well do accents really go through modulation?

Well, surely you heard for yourself. Even with the modulator, you can tell the person talking had an American accent. That's why Zod put on a fake American accent whenever he spoke to Lois on the phone, pretending to be The Blur.

Hadn't thought of that Broc, good point.

Although in all fairness, I imagine that Callum Blue's over-the-top accent can go through most anything.

I also didn't get why Clark wasn't immediately pulled into the rift. I understand why Zod wasn't, the Blue-K, but Clark didn't appear to have any in his possession.

Before Zod unsheathed the Blue-K dagger he had his full powers as well. Why I think Zod and Clark were the last ones is because of all the Kryptonians, only those two did not want to leave. Sure, Clark chose to go. But it was a sacrifice on his part. If there was a way he would have preferred to stay on Earth. The Book of Rao was going to transport all powered Kryptonians apparently, but it took the willing ones first as they were easier for not resisting.

But why should whether they want to go or not factor into it. I don't recall Martha telling Clark about that and Clark made a big deal about trying to find an alternative for not going. To me it seemed Clark understood that the rift would suck up all Kryptonians regardless of whether they wanted to go or not. Further, I don't think Clark necessarily was planning to get their assent beforehand anyway. Because who knew what awaited on the other side of the rift? It could be oblivion or the Phantom Zone.

I don't think there was a good in-universe explanation for why Clark and Zod were last. I think it was done so they could have a final battle.

Caliburn24 bought up some good points. Why didn't Zod just stab Clark and pull out? It's possible that the mortally wounded Clark would've still been sucked into the rift and Zod would be alone on Earth, with very little real opposition. It didn't make sense for him to not pull out the dagger. Also, the bit about Oliver was priceless. Why is he sneaking through the vents of a building he owns? Further, if he wanted to avoid Kryptonian scrunity why hadn't he taken off his costume and just walked through the front door?

I also had an issue with Lois not even sneaking a peek at the man who was kissing her. That gripe was somewhat alleviated by Lois recognizing that it was Clark after all. But it was idiotic for Clark not to tell her. Just get it over already. I'm perfectly fine with Smallville tweaking the traditional Lois doesn't know Clark's secret part of the Superman story. My goodness, the show has changed things in so many other ways, why not break this convention as well?

Lois has shown a keen kissing "spider-sense."

A couple seasons back Clark posed as Green Arrow, to give Ollie the chance to buy himself an alibi to get Lois off his scent. Lois and "Green Arrow" (really Clark) kissed. Lois later said she knew that the Green Arrow wasn't Ollie before Ollie had even shown up because Green Arrow was a better kisser than Ollie.

So it's possible that when she kissed "The Blur" she was then able to deduce that The Blur is Clark. Now, the question is what reverses that knowledge in the season premiere.

And I think it'd be neat if this fall is what finally pushes Clark in to finally flying!

Why should it be reveresed. In all previous incarnations, Lois always SUSPECTED and tried to prove Clark was Superman, this follows that.

As I mentioned earlier, Clark impaled himself with the blade in Zod's hand. Zod, not expecting that at all, was taken aback and let go of it. Clark then fell back off the building, thereby preventing Zod to grab the blade before being sucked up by the yellow energy.

I am not going to be around much...but I will give my thoughts on the finale.

The first 2 minutes & 18 seconds(Clark's Dream and opening up the present from Ma Kent...which was the suit...I knew it!!!)...was the most Iconic and best SMALLVILLE in years...if not ever. The rest was pretty much rushed typical SMALLVILLE finale stuff...If Lois doesn't know Blurry is Clark...she is dumber than Clark...so hopefully her knowing will stick. Don't care to see Zod ever again unless it is the real Zod from the PZ. Yes it was Granny Goodness who went in after Tess...poor Tess died...so CF will be back...I am not excited about a Darkseid story...but whatever...if that is what we are getting then so be it...Chloe/Ollie stuff was pretty funny...nice they left that open and good...JL scene was good...didn't have a problem with it...The end was ok...better than last year...not the best...not the worse...I think it leaves SMALLVILLE in a good place for next season. Hope to see ya'll then. :)

By the way being sick has me drained and moody...not to mention other horrible stuff going on in my life...just hope it all gets better. :(

I gave it a SUPERMAN! (Excellent). :)

Here is finally Supes on S'ville...

Was happy to see it. :bolian:

The opening teaser sequence was great stuff and one of the reasons to watch this episode. This was what I was referring to earlier when Smallville teases the fans with great mythology stuff but then makes us crazy by bringing us back to reality. The fight sequence could have been longer and more epic and I would have loved to have seen the Justice League and Society characters show up to help take down Zod but then that would have defeated the purpose of having the Book of Rao be the dues ex machina. Any thoughts as to where the Kandorian clones were sent? I mentioned to my friend that I think they were transported to a regular planet but their signal interrupted by either Warworld or Apokolips. Darkseid was in need of new Parademons! :) Perhaps a theory that is too much way out there by Smallville standards but it's what I think. That same friend then stated he thought the Phantom Zone but I told him that was impossible since the only projector is inside of the Fortress which is appaerently according to Zod shut down again.

I stated in my original post that the Justice League/Society cameos were a waste of time and I still maintain that but I still enjoyed their conversation that they had. I still think that Ollie was taken by Parademons or Female Furies. I wouldn't be surprised if the old woman was Granny Goodness and has a boomtube inside of that bag of hers.

The Lois and Clark stuff was good...so can we assume now that Lois knows that Clark is the Blur or when we all return to Smallville in Sep (sigh) that the writers will find some way to reset this? I find myself oddly looking forward to their comic con panel in July now.

So now everyone agreed that it was Granny Goodness and that Darkseid is coming, who do you want in the roles?

I vote for Betty White and Tony Todd.

The Justice cameos were a bit "meh" but if they weren't there we would be all saying "Where was the League?" So this way the story stays focused on Clark, and douche or not, it should be. And we can comfortably accept that the League(s) were doing their thing offstage.

I had to wait to watch it until just now, I recorded it until my daughter got home today to watch with me. So I looked carefully at the whole dagger thing at the end. Zod and Clark both got depowered as soon as he unsheathed it, or at least got weakened. The dagger proximity was what kept the transport from grabbing them. The Kandorians were leaving one by one, not en mass, so Clark and Zod were last anyway. I think there was maybe one extra second that seemed a bit too long before he unsheathed the dagger, but on the whole it made sense.

I agree that Clark grabbed Zod's hand and stabbed himself.

I thought overall that Clark did de-douche a lot this episode, his speech to Zod in the fortress just before he found Tess was the first time he's made sense all year. I think it was better than the gazelle speech, really I do.

He should have told Lois, yes, but if he'd told her he probably wouldn't have been able to bring himself to leave. He was shutting down his feelings and closing her off. He hadn't wanted to face her even, Ollie had to get him to man up for that.

I liked how Lois caught on to Zod as soon as she touched his hand, it led into the kiss with Clark nicely.

I think it's cool that Lois will actually know, but Clark won't know that she knows. She won't be out trying to prove it because she understands already why he wants it to stay secret. It will be a bit like when Chloe first found out, and Lois will eventually get frustrated and call him out.

I liked the opening dream scene well enough, but I got a bigger thrill when Clark opened the box from his mom.

I liked it tons more than the Doomsday finale. Super.

Although in all fairness, I imagine that Callum Blue's over-the-top accent can go through most anything.

Callum Blue was born in London and his accent was the same in Showtime's "Dead Like Me" series. It may be his natural accent and he was directed to use it.

It would be nice if Granny Goodness turned Tess into the leather wearing Lashina. Although with her red hair she would be better as Bloody Mary. As long as Cassidy Freeman is back I will be happy.
One has to wonder what Darksied would want with the Green Arrow?
