Well I finished watching it...I would vote Clark Kent it's a slight upgrade over "Doomsday". My favorite part was Clark's flash forward "dream" I thought that was done really well, the CGI plane sucked though. Waste of a Justice League/Society cameo. I loved seeing Granny Goodness...and my guess is that Ollie was taken by Female Furies since he said they're not Kandorian. It's not a shame Callum Blue isn't coming back since his overacting and delivery of his lines bothered the shit out of me. I guess Martha's gift was indeed Clark's supersuit...and I loved seeing the Daily Planet headline of Lex's Presidency run....all of this is supposed to happen in three years? They even used Michael's head shot too.

but then.... that means that lois will turn in to that... that.... sarah Palin chick....
The future does not bode well for humanity....
:weep:

I get the Sarah Palin reference from before haha...I think think that was their attempt to make her look like Margot Kidder but what the fuck was the point of her glasses? I believe that Kate Bosworth's Lois had reading glasses. In that Beeman blog post he says they were trying to connect to the Donnerverse (yet another example)

More of my predictions bore fruit. Like Martha leaving Clark his super-suit, as it was in the comics she was destined to make for him. Also, they sure did remember Virgil Swann. So Martha running his foundation as the Red Queen seems even more likely now.

The reason why Clark never actually admitted to being the Blur and ending with Lois firmly believing him to be Clark sets up the old Silver Age scenario where she will now be trying to prove Clark is Superman.

The final fight was... meh. Obviously J'onn J'onnz or Carter Hall will come flying to Clark's rescue. I was kind of hoping that Zod would be getting the king of all beat-downs by the Legion of the Supermen there at the end. Oh well. At least we did see Clark punch him into orbit just before he saved Lois. That alone beat the Doomsday fight from last season.

All in all, I was really hoping for more. Then again, this IS Smallville. I should know better by now.

The thing is we all hope for more than we're given...the small (no pun intended) bits and pieces of myth and lore they weave in and out of the seasons is what keeps pulling me and ultimately I am disappointed on a constant basis. Funny...the one thing the writers seem to be good at is being consistent at disappointing their fans.

I didn't really get a granny vibe from the old lady.

No where near fat enough.

And it's the dark Ski pro who chases after the dead if we are talking about New Gods.

What I did get, was an Inga Nelson vibe.

You stick Fates helmet on Tess' corpse and you don't need Cassidy.

Greener pastures, she deserves it.

I also considered that she could be being turned into a female Metallo? And if that was going to be anyone, I think, barring a stray Kandorian, Martha's "Red Queen" costume really let the side down as far as remaining super secret went and this would have gone a long way to show her commitment to becoming invisible. Martha is "upgrading" Tess might be my final answer.

O!

Yes.

I know exactly who the old lady reminded of.

Batman.

It's just about how he looked in Alan Moore's Dark Knight Returns when he was undercover scouting some bad guys as he unexpectedly had to flit into action and there's this 80 year old bag woman leaping over isles in a convenience store throwing razor sharp batarangs at no good punk kids juxtapositedly.

She's Batman.

Has to be.

In Smallville Blue-K "de powers" Kryptonians without making them weak or sick (like Green K does). Clark had met a man in an episode a couple seasons back who was a Kryptonian who wore a BlueK ring, allowing him to live a normal "human" life on Earth up to an including have a child.

Yeah he was played by Marc McClure, kind of a nice nod to the movies.

Unlike many posters, I actually liked Doomsday a little better as a season finale than Salvation. I liked where Doomsday left the characters and the revelation of Davis' true nature was done pretty well, as was Jimmy's death.

Though the final fight between Clark and Zod in Salvation at least lasted longer than a minute, unlike the one with Doomsday. I also liked Clark's flash forward, though 2013 seems a little too soon for Lex to be running for President, IMO. The idea that Clark now has the suit in his possession is awesome.

I wish more had been done with the Justice League, after getting teased for a while about their appearance. I wanted to see them fighting against the Kryptonians, but I guess budget constraints prevented that. It also would've been nice to get a sense of how the world was responding to the Kryptonians terrorism. Someone page General Lane?

I had a feeling that it would be Tess that 'died' instead of Chloe. As much as I like Allison Mack, I think Chloe should've died either in Season 6 or Season 8, when she was possessed by Brainiac (that was S8 right?), but since the writers kept her around I got a feeling that she won't be buying the farm unless its the series finale. She's become the heart and soul of Smallville to a great extent and it would be to the show's detriment to get rid of her at this stage. Whereas in S6 or S8 her death might've pushed Clark closer to his destiny.

Even though Tess was pronounced dead, it doesn't mean she can't be revived. Which might happen when that old lady intervened. Interesting speculation that it is Granny Goodness. That would be sweet. I had thought that Oliver might have been attacked by parademons, but Female Furies might be a sweeter way to go. I so hope they bring Darkseid on the show. He would be the perfect big bad to close out Smallville's run. And the recent DC Dark Side Club/Final Crisis take on him could be good inspiration to make a 'human' Darkseid to cut down on production costs. I would so love it if they could get Ving Rhames, Michael Clarke Duncan, Avery Brooks, Christopher Judge, or maybe that guy that played Uriel on Supernatural to play Darkseid.

I didn't completely hate Zod this episode. I thought him imitating the Blur again was a smart move as was the Blue-K. But it made absolutely no sense for Zod to 'whisper' about killing Faora and his child. Hello, didn't he remember that all the Kryptonians had super hearing now, because of him? I just didn't buy that the charge made Zod flip out because he had just refuted it and the Kryptonians had believed him. All he had to do was keep his mouth shut and they would've continued to follow him.

I also didn't get why Clark wasn't immediately pulled into the rift. I understand why Zod wasn't, the Blue-K, but Clark didn't appear to have any in his possession. In any event, I did enjoy their fight. It was still too short, but much better than Smallville usually does with throw downs. I am glad to see Zod gone, for the moment at least. Like an earlier poster stated, I thought Blue's delivery was overdone.

What a horrible episode with some of the sloppiest laziest writing Smallville has ever seen, particularly for a season finale.

The Good...what little there was of it...
The flash forward.
Lex's picture in the paper.
The mystery of Tess' fate.
The mystery of Ollie's fate.
The mystery of the old lady.
Lois recognizing who she kissed.
Virgil Swann mentioned.

The Bad
Clark being an idiot. Just tell Lois already.
Zod being an idiot, you gave your minions super hearing you moron.
Tess being an idiot, what was your endgame in the fortress? Beat Zod with those cool Kryptonite knuckles?
Lois being an idiot for the entire episode until the kiss.
Ollie being an idiot, why are you crawling through the airducts of a satellite station you own?
The tease of Clark's supersuit, if you know you're leaving Earth, why not wear it just once?
The tease of the JSA/JLA, we must stop the Kandorians from putting their graffati on the world's landmarks! Oh, and its cheaper too!
The idiocy of Zod's strategy. Let's put our symbol on the world's landmarks! That'll make me rule the planet!
No mention of Kara.
No mention of Lana.
No effort to got Martian Manhunter back in time for the finale fight(will he save Clark? Probably).

And the final fight between Zod and Clark takes the episode to even lower depths. Okay, so Zod is holding blue Kryptonite which allows him to remain on Earth. Why does Clark remain on Earth. NO REASON! Clark then says something like, "Blue Kryptonite lets you remain on Earth!" Implying that Clark knew that BlueK had that power, did we see Clark look for BlueK earlier? Maybe ask Chloe something like, "Yo Chloe we got any BlueK in that arsenal of ours?"

Then because Zod is clearly an idiot(brilliant soldier HA!) he impales Clark with his dagger and wait for it...DOES NOT PULL IT OUT...Zod is immediately pulled away to Ceti Alpha Five. Good riddence you moron.

I'm sorry, this episode was just horrible. Every character save for Chloe had to act like an idiot, and it led to a shoddy cheat of a final scene and fight.

Before Zod unsheathed the Blue-K dagger he had his full powers as well. Why I think Zod and Clark were the last ones is because of all the Kryptonians, only those two did not want to leave. Sure, Clark chose to go. But it was a sacrifice on his part. If there was a way he would have preferred to stay on Earth. The Book of Rao was going to transport all powered Kryptonians apparently, but it took the willing ones first as they were easier for not resisting.

I'll give this an Above Average - best episode of the season.

I agree with Smallville Wiki's theory that the old woman is Granny Goodness, that she's there to recruit Tess for the Female Furies and that this is linked to what happened to Oliver.

Another instance of Zod being an idiot...he should have expected Tess to have kryptonite on her. She's only done that to him 20 times but he still kept her alive.

More of my predictions bore fruit. Like Martha leaving Clark his super-suit, as it was in the comics she was destined to make for him.

Yes, but will he wear it now that she's made it?

I agree, you've got me convinced of this now. I just hope that they prove you right onscreen sometime in Season 10, hopefully with a return of Senator Ma Kent to more fully explain things to Clark... And slap him in the head if he's still not flying and wearing her gift.

Thanks to both NCC1701MF and Samurai for the wiki links on the Furies and Granny. This certainly does seem like the way that Cassidy can return, but have 'Tess' be dead. Her identity of Tess Mercer is essentially dead.

And I did enjoy the YouTube link Samurai, many thanks! Nice to know that others besides those of us here on this board appreciate Ally and her character.

:techman:

Didn't Clark impale himself on the knife, so he could get it away from Zod? That was my impression anyway.

I've got to watch the episode again, but yeah, I kinda got that feeling too.

Doesn't Zod use his English accent to speak to Lois? She should have picked up on this.

In fairness, she has only talked to the Blur through voice modulation. Now, my knowledge in this is limited, but how well do accents really go through modulation?
