So what's the consensus of the episode from all of you east coasters? I take it it was only a slight improvement over Doomsday. I'm reading the Granny Goodness comments and am thinking these are along the lines of what they would probably do for season ten. Is Tess dead? Cassidy Freeman has resigned...she was part of the official resignees reported a few weeks ago. It seems from what I read that Chloe survives and so I called her coming back in a reduced role next year!! Did they show the flash forward?

Well, Tess was pronounced dead, but let's just say that in her current condition, she wasn't going to leave a good-looking corpse. Chlo was the only one who didn't seem to be in mortal danger at the end and yes, they began the show with the flash-forward... Three years from now with Perry White as E-i-C, Lo looking like Sarah Palin and Clark was probably still a douche.

Maybe Tess will become a female fury?

I must be getting tired. The first time I read your post, I thought you said that Tess was a female 'furry'.

On a more serious note, I assume these 'furies' are connected to Darkseid in some manner?

Granny's soldiers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_Furies
The Female Furies, brutally trained and led by Granny Goodness, are fanatically loyal to Darkseid. However, infighting among the Furies is commonplace, most typically to appoint a leader to the group.[1]
Big Barda was a member until she escaped to Earth with Mister Miracle.[1] Other former members include Knockout, Seera (abandoned Granny to help Al Bizarro), Twilight's mother, and Supergirl (Kara Zor-El). There are also known male Furies, though they are lower in rank than the females.

Granny Goodness means Darkseid most likely...she'll pave the way for him to arrival. I'm surprised they didn't use Desaad.

Well I saw it and wow it looks lke Clark will be saved again by either Hawkman or John Jones before he splats the pavement. Great storytelling ovrall this season I think there have been some slow points with the Kandorians and Zod, but it looks like we might not see any Kryptonians on earth except Kal-El of which it should allways be.

Looking forward to fall season with Smallville and possibly Questor Tapes(keep your fingers crossed) for this new show by Rod Roddenberry, and Imagine.
Maybe we'll start up a thread discussing, and grading this show when it airs.

See ya all at Shore Leave this year if you can come to meet me there.

Have a good summer folks

Signed

Two questions....
was that gift from mom Kal-El's uniform I saw in the reflection of clarks eyes. and
I forget what blue kryptonite does...

In Smallville Blue-K "de powers" Kryptonians without making them weak or sick (like Green K does). Clark had met a man in an episode a couple seasons back who was a Kryptonian who wore a BlueK ring, allowing him to live a normal "human" life on Earth up to an including have a child.

thanks.... didn't I see Jor-El yell at Kal-El in a commercial... what happened with that...
Or is my memory faulty.... and I need to replace some modules.

He didn't yell at Kal in the tv spot...forgot now what exactly he did probably chastised him for being a douche still.

I thought it was an amazing episode. Lois figured out the identity through the kiss, we saw the uniform, Clark used his super brain (finally) and we had a great flash forward. Loved it.

That was definitely granny goodness. Why she wants tess is probably to make her a female fury with that gross face. And I think the swarm of red dots on the radar were probably darkseid's parademons which are just his mindless infantry dudes which always reminded me of the flying monkey in the wizard of oz. I don't think the radar dot were furies because I think there are only 3 or 4 of them.

[Opening]

HERE'S HOW A SUPERMAN SHOW SHOULD LOOK....HA-HA! FOOLED YOU!

[Someboddddy saaaave meeee!]

Clark: "Chloe, if the Book of Raul Julia is opened, all Kryptonians will leave...including me.

Chloe: "And Kara, too?"

Clark: "Who's Kara?"

Chloe: "Never mind, it's JSA cameo time."

[Back at Fortress of Ineptitude]

Tess: "I'm gonna kryptonite-knuckle you, Zod!"

Zod: "OUCH! BTW, if you're gonna beat someone to death, beat them to death, don't talk. Also, FRYYYYYYYY!"

[Watchtower]

Chloe: "Satellite's go bye-bye."

Ollie: "How's about I reveal I have a satellite that requires activation by infiltrating some place that has air ducts large enough for me to crawl around in?"

Chloe: "Seems contrived, but..."

[Fortress...]

Clark: "Zod...something-something...time waster."

Zod: "Clark, something arrogant-smug-time waster." (Flies away)

Clark: "OMG, Tess...you are half baked!"

[Hospital...]

Tess: "Why aren't I dead yet?"

Clark: "You have to reveal something out of the blue that will help me defeat ZOD."

Tess: "Frak that, I'd rather die."

[Smallville...farm...no actual Smallville scenes on a show named "Smallville]

Lois: "I'll stop snooping just as Clark shows..."

Clark: "Lois, I'd ask why you are up here...but I'm too occupied with my usual internal conflict."

Lois: "JUST TELL ME YOUR SECRET."

Clark: "What you say? No secrets here. I mean, if you think I have one, you'd rub the proof in my face, right? RIGHT?"

[Hospital...]

Doctor type person: "This bitch is dying...ah...she croaked."

Nurse: "Dammit, let's all leave her body unattended."

Knitting granny: "I'll go steal her jewelry."

[Fake-looking Metropolis street set...]

Zod: "You get that thing I sent you for?"

Lois: "Dude, it totally occured to me you might be a fake!"

Zod: "Blast!!"

[Obligatory roof top confrontation...]

Zod: "Ha! Clark, my army will stop you before you can activate that Book of Easy Rawlins."

Clark: "Nope, I'll trick you into revealing to them what a dick you are."

Zod: "Blast."

Clark: "Alirght, everyone let's go to the spirit in the sky (spirit in the sky!)"

Zod: "Wrong. I have Callum Blue Kryptonite!"

Clark: "Yawn. Another fight scene then. Screw this, I'll just stab myself."

Zod: "Yeah, die! Wait...oh, blast..."

TO BE CONTINUED WITH ANOTHER HALF-ARSED STORY ARC.

yeah.... did I miss that in the episode or did they pull some ironman 2 stunt and show us scenes not in the film...

Well, I personally loved the episode. I really liked how things came together with this episode. My only gripe with it is everything that preceded this episode. The Kandorian arc had a lot of potential, but it was simply all over the place to make any coherent sense. For example, how did Zod go from being a morally gray character to outright evil?

I also loved the opening. That had me cracking up. Too bad it was mostly unrelated to the rest of the episode.

It is a shame that Callum Blue will not be back. I actually liked his character and his performance as Zod (though I wish they kept him more of morally gray as mentioned above). Nice use of the Blue K for Clark to not be sucked up into the Book of Rao. I suspect one of two things for next season on Clark surviving:
1) Clark whips out the knife, heals, and flies (or at least hovers).
2) As others have mentioned, a flying character swoops up and saves him (this can possibly include a Darkseid-related character).

So, is Kara screwed? Or, because she was off world, is she okay? Was it established that it would only affect Kryptonians on Earth or everywhere in the universe?

My husband thinks the old lady at the hospital was Granny Goodness.

That's who I immediately thought it was when I first saw the "random knitter" a few scenes earlier when Clark and Tess were talking.

I think Super-Deuche will whip out the knife and fly for the first time. And He better start of the fricking season as Superman. Not Super-Deuche.

She was probably dying too in her own fictional spin off series while her Scooby gang scrambled to save their city.
