best novels with comic moments?

what are some of the best novels with lighter moments.
they dont have to be out right comic overall.
i just wont something a little lighter to read at the moment.

i am reading through the hugo nominees (so far from what i can tell a pretty grim and serious lot) and in light of what has been happening in tennessee this week i want something a little lighter trek wise to carry around with me.

i already know about the peter david q book.

Well, Peter David didn't just write the Q book, but KRAD is another author I find quite skilled at integrating humour into his pieces. Indeed, the S.C.E. line he edited oftens shows this kind of sensibility... what's the story where Faulwell (I think) tries to sculpt? That had me in stitches.

I've only read the first four New Frontier novels, but they've got quite a few funny moments...Q is hilarious...My Enemy, My Ally (the first Rihannsu novel) has it's lighter moments, enough to make it noticeable although the story isn't all lighthearted. It's a good read...that's about all I can think of at the moment.

McCoy during his trial in the Romulan Senate? The Horta Starfleet officer?

Yeah, some good moments...though I'm thinking of "The Romulan Way".

New Frontier: After The Fall has some of the funniest scenes I've ever read, specifically, but in general it's hard to go wrong with Peter David. There aren't many of his that are wholly serious, really.

I enjoyed the the scene where McCoy and Spock play chess in My enemy my ally. Q In law by Peter David has some funny scenes with Lxwana and Q.

For Trek novels with comic moments, two of my favorites are The Three-Minute Universe, which features some hysterical stuff with Kirk, Uhura and Chekov dealing with the aliens (one of whom Chekov has named "orangejuiceandwodka"), and Uhura's Song, which features Spock raising an eyebrow at Dr. Evan Wilson, who retorts, "Don't you point that thing at me, Spock - it might be loaded!" And yet neither of these are what you might call a humorous story (in fact, the situation in Uhura's Song is particularly dire in places).

Vance Hawkins interrogation scene in SCE: Failsafe by David Mack...

I was dieing of laughter at a cancer clinic waiting for my Granddad to get out of his Radiation Treatment...

Made me feel a lot better at a time when I wasn't feeling much of anything.

PAD's Strike Zone is like Star Trek meets The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Funny stuff.

And the Horta rescued him by eating through the floor.

A Horta gets a Secret Mission and it involves stuffing himself silly.

Q-Squared and the Daycare scene when Trelane makes Winnie the Pooh literally come alive. That was one bit of inspired writing.

I loved Doctor's Orders by Diane Duane and Peter Morwood. McCoy hasn't delivered a report to Kirk, so Kirk makes him sit in the captain's chair and puts him in command temporarily to make him stay put and finish it. Then Kirk disappears on the planet, leaving McCoy stuck. Klingons show up. Hilarity ensues. And McCoy comes up with a medically-based solution to the problems in the end. LOTS of fun!

yes, it is on my list of books for not fun times along with books like "the dragon and the george" by dickson.

as for peter david the one i was thinking of was q squared.
