The Menagerie - Extended Edition

I-Am-Zim

Captain
Hello all!

I have just posted my extended version of "The Menagerie" on YouTube. You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEq6q5GOxq0.
I used the remastered versions of both "The Menagerie" parts 1 and 2 as well as the remastered version of "The Cage" to compile this extended movie. I edited in all the footage from "The Cage" that wasn't included in "The Menagerie". I think it turned out quite well. It ended up being 1 hour and 46 minutes long when I was done. Almost like a mini-movie. I hope you enjoy!

That's a good idea.

I was hoping you had used the "new" title sequence that CBS-D used for "The Cage" as this does qualify more as a TV movie rather than a regular episode of TOS.

Did you include the to be continued stuff or did you just fade out and start with part 2?

I didn't use the title sequence from "The Cage", I used the one from "The Menagerie". In retrospect, you're right, I probably should have used the opening from Cage. And I think I did a fade-out/fade-in and didn't include the "to be continued" stuff.

Zim, how did you handle the scenes where the Cage is being seen on the Ent briefing room monitor?

There was many times where a scene started in the middle of a 'full' Cage scene.

I saw the remastered Menagerie when it was shown in theaters a few years ago. Seeing this brought back the fond memeories of that event. You did a wonderful job merging the footage from both the Cage and Menagerie.

One question: why did you cut out Vina's reveal scene at the end?

I think there may have been a couple of instances where I had to cut a small part out. I tried to get as much in as possible, but there were a few seconds here and there that I just couldn't figure a way to keep in the scenes.

Also, if you pay attention, you'll see a couple of places where I took a little "creative license". I omitted all references to "time" when referring to warp factors. I know it was in the original, but it just didn't seem to fit as far as knowing what we know of Trek now.

Thanks! I thoroughly enjoyed putting that together. And, unfortunately, I didn't get to see the theatrical release. I wish I could have seen it. It would have been a real treat to experience that on the big screen.

I was unaware that I did that. I'll have to go back and watch it again and if I did omit that scene, I didn't realize it. If it's not there, I will add it back in.

Edit: Hmmmm. I just went back and watched the last couple of scenes and I did indeed cut that out somehow. Not to worry, when I get home tonight, I'll put it back in. There seems to be about a minute of footage missing between parts 11 and 12. It shall be fixed.

Just uploaded Menagerie part 11.5 to add the "Vina reveal scene" back in. I don't know exactly why that one got skipped. But it should be finished uploading in about 20 minutes or so.
