:rommie: You have these two to thank for this poll! (Althought DevilEyes, Exodus, Spyone, JanewayRulz, John200, Tiberius and The Borg Queen,) did inspire this. I couldn`t work out a name for everyone ( Borg Jane-eyess Johnspy Exodius?!):p

Okay back to the poll, rank yourself (honestly,) from 1-10 as a Voyager Fan, 1 been - Not a fan, 10 - Huge Fan (Jeri Ryan`s stalker.

Good luck, I expect you to post your rank! :bolian:

I voted that I love Voyager above all other Trek, though DS9 comes a close second. I have a soft spot for Voyager because by watching the reruns on television a few years ago I converted my now teenaged daughter into becoming a Trek fan. Corrupting my children is my life.

I ironically slotted myself as a "seven".

I love Voyager worts and all, actually especially the worts, but what I know are worts, others insist are "love bumps" or "beauty spots", or those with a background in stargatology "landing platforms for kisses and praise".

I voted 1.

I don't enjoy it. I know, how dare I come into the Voyager forum and say that, but I tried to like the show, I really did. I read everything that Star Trek Communicator and Starlog wrote about it before the premiere (whatever happened to "Doc Zimmerman" by the way?) and I really wanted it to be good, because it became obvious during the final season of TNG that the writers had run out of ideas and they were just spinning their wheels until the finale.

I watched "Caretaker" and I liked it. Sure, it had its problems (like why couldn't they have just used the Array to get home and left a bomb behind set to explode after they left, or how all the Maquis were in Starfleet uniforms in the final scene) but they seemed minor because the acting was good and the production values were excellent. And then the first regular episode had a reset-button plot, and it became obvious that UPN, Rick Berman, or whoever called the shots was not going to take this seriously.

Voyager is Star Trek if it were produced by Glen Larson, only with more technobabble. And if you enjoy it, good for you. I mean, my wife just loves Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and my hatred for it burns hotter than the heat of a thousand suns, but I love her anyway. And since Voyager's shortcomings inspired a lot of what Ron Moore did with BSG, I am thankful for it. I'm just sad that it didn't live up to its amazing potential. Voyager is the Derrick Coleman of Star Trek.

I rank myself as a 6. It's no DS9 or TNG, but it's a show that I like at the end of the day. But it does have a lot of problems, and those are easier to comment on in a way. But it does have a lot of great episodes and some very good characters and stories. I wish it were better more consistently.

7, Voyager had problems with its very premise but I didn't let it detract from my enjoyment of the show.

It would be good if there was something between option 1 & 2. There are a handful of episodes I like, but for the most part, I do not like it.

Season 4 is the strongest season for me, and it doesn't compare well to the best of the other Trek shows (TNG 3-6, DS9 3-7, ENT 3-4).

But I'll watch and usually love anything focusing on the Doctor.

I voted 6. I can understand why some love it and look past its flaws. I can understand why some hate it for squandering its premise. I've always fallen in between the two extremes, but prefer to enjoy what it got right rather than dwell needlessly on its faults.

5.

It definitely had it's problems, but so do all the other series as well. So, I enjoyed it just as I enjoyed all of them.

Though I would rank them thusly....

DS9(10/10) > ENT(8.5/10) > TNG(8/10) > VOY(7/10) > TOS(5.5/10)

4. I was thinking for a moment whether to pick 5, but I can't honestly say that I enjoyed the show overall - I enjoyed some episodes, others I didn't, and many I was just OK with.

^ TOS 5.5?!

Some of the villains are out of a pantomime, the sets are made out of rhinestones on papermache and the special effects are usually some guy in editing with a sharpee marker colouring in... Other than that, it's golden.

I once started a thread in the TOS (after seeing the CGI Enterprise 1701 fight a classic Romulan Bird of prey) section asking if the other trek shows should be special editioned in reverse to have Toss effects imposed on TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT and see if they could still tread water on a level playing field.

Star Trek overcame the limitations of the 60s and still excelled, meanwhile the 90s meek political correct ideology strangled Voyager dead to rights, and I'm not sure what goodspeak the naughties uniquely forced on Enterprise because I'm still too stuck in the fog of all that too... Although the attempted complexity of season three and four did mirror the shit storm of lies the Bush administration forced down our throats dragging the world into a mostly pointless and overly prolonged conflict in the middle east. They had that going for them?

After many years of ignoring the show, I can now honestly say: "I really like Voyager".

ETA: 'Cause I've watched it now. Guess I could have been more clear on that. Posting before coffee this morning. Going away now.

Yeah, someone who doesn't worship TOS as some pinnacle of sci-fi, go figure. There are actually a good few people like that. Sorry if I sound snippy, but incredulity seems to be a typical reaction when someone doesn't just love TOS

Thank you. I don't hate TOS, in fact I do like it a lot. It's just that the bad episodes outweigh most of the good ones, IMO.
