Strangest Movie buddy

My worst Star Trek movie buddy had to be the guy I was dating when TWOK came out. He took me to see the movie and started yelling at me when I started crying when Spock was dying.

It called me stupid for crying over a TV character.

At that moment he was tapped on the shoulder by a couple of guys sitting in back of us. When we turned around we discovered they were two of the biggest biker guys we had ever seen! They were complete with leather jackets, bandanas and everything.

The one guy told him, "Hey! If the little lady wants to cry, you let her cry!"

My date shut up immediately. And the two biker guys, well, they wiped their eyes because they were crying too!

awesome story.

What a dick, tho.

Wow..that is a great story and you ought to start a thread about bad movie experiences (not the movie, but the real life stuff in the movie audience)

I saw TMP, during opening week (must have been a Sunday), with my grandmother and stepmom. No one else wanted to take me because football was on.

Not quite STAR TREK, but I dragged my Star Trek editor to see GALAXY QUEST. I thought he was going to die laughing . . . .

I went with my uncle. to see TMP. In those days there were no multiplexes as there are now, san diego at least. So one of us waited in the ticket line, and the other in the line to go in line...ahhhh..those were the days...

My sister & I went to see the first three TNG films together - even though she was at college over two hundred miles away, we promised not to see the movies without each other.

So, yeah, I guess that seems kind of weird in retrospect.

Not really a movie buddy, but when GEN was comin' out, my sister & I got to know the manager at the movie theater in Stephenville. Turns out he was a Trekkie, too, and when we asked how we could get the Kirk/Picard poster off the wall, he gave us E-D miniposters, instead.

When GEN opened, we went to go see it, and the manager was wearin' a red-shouldered DS9-style uniform, with three pips on his collar. I asked him why he didn't have a fourth pip, to be a captain, and he said, "Because I haven't earned it yet."

Scared the hell out of me - really did NOT want to know how he had to earn a pip that could be ordered through the mail!

LOL...funny.

When TUC came out my girlfriend's brother was the assistant manager at the theatre. So, after the movied played out its opening weeks, he gave me the poster which I still have.

I actually have several movie posters on my walls, framed. I think, at least for my generation, some movie posters were works of art. Now adays? Not so much...

One of the happiest movie memories is when my Dad took me to see First Contact when I was about 6.
My family and I saw the trailer on tv, I'm pretty sure Dad took me to see the movie that same day.

Dad had to tell my wee brother that we were just doing a message, so he wouldn't get upset. He was way too young to see a movie like that.

I still remember jumping in my seat when that implant shot out of Picards face. We had a great time.

That is a good memory, Balok.

When my extended family and I went to see TREK movies, we would have to save an entire row....22 people usually or so. I remember my younger nephew and i being assigned to run ahead and get the row! He went left, I went right, and we ran up the asile and would stop on either side of a row and sit at the end of each row....protecting our TURF!!!! Treks 2-3-4-5-6-7 were all done this way...First Contact was just eight of us as life intervened and most of our group had moved away, or had lives, or, in the case of my grandmother, passed away...

Thats how I will best remember TREK movies. Not the movies themselves, which of course I do remember, but the family times we shared watching Kirk and company deal with the happenings in their TREK universe...

My brother and I went to many, many, many big movie premieres together. We TMP, TWOK and TSFS (we skipped school to see it at the first showing), as well as Superman I + II, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, and Return of the Jedi (also skipped school).

I've gone to the later Trek movies with large groups except for Insurrection and Nemesis. nuTrek was a bit of nostalgia for me as we got a big goup together to go to the local IMAX. Fun times!

Yes...and nothing quite compares, does it? I remember all those lines I stood in, with family and or friends. I think we stood in line for TSFS for nearly two hours, just chatting it up..taking turns to go to the bathroom. We also talked up 'seat' strategy. Two of us, the younger and faster of the bunch, would launch first and go up the different aisles and reserve an entire row, and fight any intrusions!!! The rest would go to the bathroom and get the food goods! Once we all got seated, the scout class people (the first two who got the seats) were relieved of their duty and allowed to go to restrooms.

We always had good seats, even if the movie (Superman III) sucked.
