I've been making a lot of negative posts lately, so it's nice to have a chance to talk about something I love. I really love this episode. It took me awhile to get into DS9. It wasn't until seasons 3 and 4 that there were a lot of episodes I really loved.
There are only a handful in seasons 1 and 2 that I like to re-watch, and this is by far my favourite of season 2. I am biased because of how much I loved Jadzia Dax and the Klingon characters (and the episodes of
"Star Trek" that they appeared in), but I also think this is wonderfully written. Like most of my favourite Star Trek episodes, it has both lovely character interaction and very fun action sequences combining to make a consistently entertaining and simultaneously intellectually/emotionally satisfying episode overall.
Jadzia's actions not getting a lot of consequences later on is a fairly big plot hole/loose end, but I don't mind. Given how much affection I have for the character, it's easy for me to understand why Sisko would cut her miles of slack and let her get away with a lot.
