Is Michael Moorcock still doing his Doctor Who novel?

I'm posting this thread outside the Doctor Who board because it's addressed to the general SF/F crowd. Last year Michael Moorcock announced he was writing a Doctor Who novel for publication in late 2010. Since then we've had quite a bit of press regarding Neil Gaiman writing an episode for the 2011 season, but I haven't heard anything more about Moorcock's book.

Anyone been keeping up with the author and know if the book is still in the pipeline?

Alex

Fair enough, but all I was looking for was a comment from somebody who follows the guy (he does have a few fans, right?) who can give a proper answer. Otherwise I'm tempted to assume either Moorcock was blowing smoke out his arse, or BBC Books said "no thanks" (not an impossible scenario), or the book is turning into the literary equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever.

We already know roughly when Gaiman's episode airs, and BBC Audio already has a release date for one of its Eleventh Doctor audios announced for February 2011, so if this thing is happening surely there must be some advance solicitation or other detail floating about.

And this being Moorcock, it does not necessarily mean his book will be released with any of the sets. He's big enough to warrant a special issue. Hell, we don't even know if this is an Eleventh Doctor novel. I personally have my fingers cross that this might be the long-awaited rebooting of the past Doctors novels. Or, at worst, a one-off like Sebestian Faulks' Bond novel. You get one of the top fantasy writers offering to write a book for you, you don't necessarily pigeonhole him alongside (with no offence intended to those I name here) the likes of Oli Smith or Justin Richards. ;)

Alex, I know all the answers to all of your questions. They're just not public yet, and I'm not at liberty to share them. (For that matter, I know a great deal about the BBC Books Doctor Who graphic novel, The Only Good Dalek.) Next week, some of those answers -- format, Doctor, title, cover blurb -- will be public.

I dont know about this "The Only Good Dalek" thing, it seems to be yet ANOTHER Dalek survived. Seriously those things just are not killable, some how, one will always survive. divide every item of there existence*, they survive, the last great time war, they survive, whatever it was DoctorDonna did, they survive.

*thinking about it, best we know they didnt survive that

Who wants to go all Jack Bauer on Allyn Gibson's ass? :p

Naw, he's a good guy. Have patience, we'll get it sooner or later.

yeah why not, ive got some time to kill.

Alex, I like that you can be told all of this...
I know what the title is. I know which Doctor is in it. I know the cover copy.

And I can't tell you.
Can you at least say when the embargo will be lifted? :borg:
Some of the information will be public next week. I'm not sure when we'll see a cover.
And yet still somehow come up with this:
Otherwise I'm tempted to assume either Moorcock was blowing smoke out his arse, or BBC Books said "no thanks" (not an impossible scenario), or the book is turning into the literary equivalent of Duke Nukem Forever.
I mean, is the BBC in the habit of releasing titles and cover copies for books made up by Michael Moorcock?
