I never meant to suggest that Janeway becoming a Q was anything more than my opinion of what happened at the end of Before Dishonor.
Even if they killed her more decisively she could be brought back in any number of iffy sci-fi ways. Although I enjoyed Before Dishonor, the manner of Janeway's death was a dissapointment to me - the door was left so far open I don't buy her as truly dead, even if she never does actually return.

Nice thing about this sort of fiction: the window of opportunity for rectifying such errors never truly closes. All it takes is the will to do so.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

(Be advised, though, that if they do bring her back, I'm going to be the president and HMFRS for the newly-launched Bring Back Duffy campaign.)

...Dayton...

...they kill Duffy?

I'm only on the third SCE story :scream: !!

I guess every story between now and then will have that added "will this be it?" tension whenever something happens!

Given that the cover to one of the books is a giant tombstone with Duffy's name on it, I kind of feel like the cat's out of the bag on this one.

It's funny that this came up again as I've just finished reading thru all of the Dead Janeway threads from when Before Dishonor came out (wasn't involved in reading them at the time...I was on a bit of a TrekLit break). Like, literally yesterday I finished. The way Lynx, Monty, and the others who took it WAY too personally carried on was quite hilarious. I can only hope for a repeat performance.

I voted to keep her dead, though I would've voted for a "Keep her dead for the time being" had there been one. It's too soon, if it were to happen. I'd say maybe in 7 or 8 novels down the line.

Didn't hurt "JAMES R. KIRK" any, having a tombstone with his name on it.
Absolutely true, though I would point out that no character named "James R. Kirk" is ever seen again after that particular episode....

Oh, and keep her dead. Full Circle and Unworthy made her unnecessary.

This. I want to see follow ups to what was discovered in the DQ the first time around, and reflections on how Janeway handled those situations rather than her being there to deal with them herself.

Have her become Chakotay's new spirit guide.

He wonders what Janeway would have done in some situation he's afraid of screwing up, uses the meditation techy thing to visit his spirit guide (fox or something?), and Janeway's there instead. Leave it ambiguous as to whether or not it's really her spirit guiding him.

Would it be any weirder than seeing the ghost of his father?

But again this would be a Stargate rip - Daniel Jackson visiting friends in times of need...

As long as she doesn't come back naked though, that's one visualisation I personally could do with out.

Hahaha. Like, she comes back right in the middle of poker night on Voyager. They're all knocking back the synthebeers and Harry Kim is all telling this story like "So me and Janeway were crawling through Jeffries tubes practically all day and the whole time her gross mom butt is like 6 inches from my face, and the worst part...oh god haha. The worst part is that I was actually starting to..."

And then BOOM naked Janeway just comes crashing down in the middle of the table, and ALL HELL just breaks loose

"I'm Captain Kathryn Janeway's Head. And this is my first officer, the headless body of Spiro Agnew."

"RRRRRRRRR!!!!!!"

I'm currently watching Voyager for the first time, ending Season Two, and so far my thumb is on the "Kill" button.
