Scrabble to allow proper nouns - is this the end of civilization?

The rules of word game Scrabble are being changed for the first time in its history to allow the use of proper nouns, games company Mattel has said.

Place names, people's names and company names or brands will now count.

<snip>

Mattel said there would be no hard and fast rule over whether a proper noun was correct or not.

BBC News link

Are they insane? No hard and fast rule? Borg designations, Klingon names, and the company I founded just so I could use my 'Z' on a triple-letter score; all that's now okay?

We are looking at social chaos like we've never seen before. Blood will run in the streets. Mother's will murder their sons.

All because Mattel wants to make a quick buck.

This seems completely unnecessary. Are proper nouns in the dictionary? And if not, how do you make sure they are spelled correctly?

I assume the proper spelling will be ascertained by the officers responding to the domestic violence complaint.

Next thing you know Colonel Mustard is going to be murdering people with laser beams and nerve gas.

^ Perhaps you should take a Xanax and calm down. Hey! "Xanax" on a double-word score! I WIN AGAIN!

I reckon ZYPREXA* would work better.

(*28 points, plus 50 point bonus for using all 7 tiles. Calculate that one, motherfucker. :p :D)

It's not like you're not allowed to play by your own house rules.
But honestly, who here has played Scrabble recently? (online doesnt count)
