So how does Fishsticks and Custard taste?

I have indeed tried Fish Fingers dipped in Custard.
Not recently mind, and certainly not inspired by the Doctor, although I did have a mind blitz when I saw him do it.
I was five at the time, and I wanted to freak my friends out at school during lunch, so fish fingers with custard dip, taking care to avoid the apple crumble. Of course this being thirty years ago, I can't for the life of me remember how they tasted.
But I do know this. I did not throw up, gag, spew, or spit. In fact, I ate all the fish finger that way, and even relished them in front of my friends. On the other hand, I never ate them again in that fashion.
Take from that what you will. I'm guessing that they tasted fishy and custardy.

But I loved the scene so much, that a while after i posted the images, i just had to make an avatar late last night and update my signature to match.
If people can eat a sheep's bladder filled with lots of things or like some of my relatives, eat chickens feet then fish sticks and custard isn't that weird.

It looks so much better out of the box rather than slightly urnt on the ends.
I'm pretty sure anyone who had school dinners in the late 80's/early 90's (before Jamie Oliver was declared the new messiah and changed everything) will have had Fish fingers and custard before. Dinner used to come on plastic trays with little compartments for each thing, but with all the shuffling and what not, custard contamination of pretty much everything often occurred.
My turkey gravy in high school got mixed in with my custard once ugh.
I can't remember the last time I had honest-to-god custard. I don't think it's quite as prevalent in the US.
I went through primary school between '88 and '95 and we had plates though, however, didnt stop them slopping it all over the tray onto the neighbouring plate of dinner. Not bad though, infact the sugar in the afters often made the dinner taste better anyhow.

Matt Smith was on the Graham Norton Show (BBC America) and Graham prepared Fish Sticks and Custard, and some people in the audience tried them, as well as Matt Smith, and some other people on the guest panel. Matt Smith wasn't too fond of the taste, but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. David Walliams went back for seconds.
I would hardly call what I had at school custard. But that was several moons ago so perhaps my memory is faulty.
I've never tasted this combination so I don't know for sure, however, I imagine it would not be as gross as it sounds considering one ingredient in many Tartar sauce recipes is sweet relish or gherkins or ??? Something sweet is usually always added.
Anyone ever had their pancake/waffle syrup get or their sausage or bacon, and like it? How about heard of a McGriddle at McDonalds? Same thing, essentially.
This Doctor may have actually liked it, I don't know but either way it helped him better bond with her.

In Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding area there is a variety of savoury Pancake called an Oatcake that you can have which is served with Bacon and Cheese.
When ever we make Pancakes at home, we tend to do the American style ones. The only Scotch Pancakes I've had were shop brought and they contain raisins.
Scotch, as in Scotch Whisky does not contain an e, nor do most other forms, Canadian, Welsh etc.
Irish Whiskey and a few other forms of non Scotch Whisky contain an e including American Whiskies (although there are exceptions to this)
It means you can tell the difference between the quality stuff and not so quality stuff as I'm lead to believe.
