Right now i can understand that attitude a bit, since nobody actually bothers to find out if the bu/problem is already posted on the STO forum, so they have dozens of threads about the same thing...
But they also are partially to blame themselves since they rushed the game in the end, so there are lots of things to complain about and now they are a bit in over their heads(or something like that)...

You say you are extremely patient, but from my estimation you only gave them what? 3 or 4 days before you decided to quit? I doubt the entire STO team is that big, let alone their customer support staff. It took them a month to finally send a human response to a question I had at the end of February. They claim they have over 100,000 players. That's a heavy workload, depending on how much staff Cryptic has.

But why is that acceptable to you? Why should we as consumers give some MMO's a pass when it comes to providing bad customer service? Why shouldn't we hold Cryptic accountable for not having an adequate customer service department? If you had a problem with your phone or Internet service, would you tolerate not getting any acknowledgment for 4 days except for a generic "Thanks for your comment" response? If I buy a company's product and pay a monthly fee to use it, I expect reasonably responsive customer service. And I don't think 4 days is a reasonable response. As long as customers put up with it, Cryptic has no incentive to remedy the situation. I am only one person but I sent a message by voting with my pocketbook.

No criticism? What boards have you been reading? I ask becaue for every 'fanboi' thread; there's an equivikent 'Trolling' thread (and everything else runs the range in between these extremes).

As for the 'ignoring of criticisms/complaints/etc by the STO staff - go to ANY other MMOs official forums - and if the have a Dev Post Tracker; take a look and I'll wager you'll be lucky to see 1 - 2 posts a day.

Go the th STO Dev Tracker and you'll see TWO PAGES of posts a day, with a fair number trying to do direct tech support, ot escalating player issues, etc. No, they don't answer everyone, but in 12 years of my doing MUDs and MMOs (starting with Meridian59, then EverQuest, etc.); I've NEVER seen such a talkative Dev Team (and they honestly don't spin things that often in posts either, they're usually upfront and frank in the majority of responses.

There are a lot of flaws, bugs and issues you can point out in STO (and most any MMO to date); but for Cryptic, lack of engagement or response to player issues brought up on their forums in't one of them. (imo)

I was mildly interested in this game, but the progression really killed it for me. Did they ever change that or is it immediately a starship after the tutorials?

What exactly did you expect, to serve as an ensign on somebody else's ship doing simple tasks for 10 levels?

It has to drop you into ship command so you have some believable freedom over where you go and what you do.

An undermanned, underfunded customer support crew working on emails while most of the focus is going to further game development or communicating with players via the developers' website forums is more than adequate for me. Besides your cable or satellite provider is at least twice the size (more like ten times the size most likely) than Cryptic's entire company, so that's not a fair comparison.

Everything Cryptic's been trying to do is more than I'm getting out of my government right now, that's for sure.

I did, I wanted to spend the game cleaning conduits and listening to comms chat about interesting missions.

I understand flexing your muscle as a consumer. I have boycotted my favorite restaurant for a couple of months because they pissed me off. Cost them the money I didn't spend there, and the money my friends didn't spend there when I drug them there for lunch/dinner as I so often did.

BUT quitting over that does seem to be overdoing it a bit. They didn't respond quick enough to something they couldn't fix anyway, and that something didn't stop you from having full access and use of the game afterwards. If my cable went out for 4 days with no response, yeah, I would be pissed off. But if my internet went out for 30 minutes and had no more problems afterwards, and I complained about it, I wouldn't switch to DSL if they didn't reply to my complaint quick enough. ESPECIALLY when I would know, as you knew, there was most probably not going to be anything they could do to resolve the issue.

I say just let it go and enjoy the game. But, hey, it's your money.

That would equal no customers except for a few die-hard role-players/trekfans.
If you want to make actual profit, you can't aim at those people only.

You now I think the klingons have ships that are better in battle then Federation ships, because I have been blowing the s#$t out of everything in my Bird of Prey.

So we know that DS9 and the Defiant make an appearance, has anyone encountered the Enterprise yet?

Have you played The Ultimate Klingon yet? Do it. Its one of the best missions in the entire game and It's got the cameo you're looking for.

I think he meant Picard's/Data's Enterprise...
    And the answer is no...
Though you can get it yourself if you follow the cruiser line of ships...

When does the Defiant make an appearance in STO? (I understand that as THE Defiant, not picking a Defiant class ship for tier 4)

You run into the original Enterprise via a time-travel mission thanks to the Guardian of Forever, but I have yet to see any other hero ship in game.
