Typhon Pact Release Dates Changed?

I just picked up the newest issue of Star Trek Magazine and on the page where it has the upcoming book releases it has the Typhon Pact books placed differently than I remember.

It has:

November-Book 1: Seize the Fire
December-Book 2: Zero Sum Game
January 2011-Book 3: Rough Beasts of Empire

Was there a change I missed or did the magazine make a mistake?

Rise Like Lions? "Crossing Fingers"

He'd have to write Rise Like Lions first, and given how long that process would take, and then how long the editing/production process would take, I think it's safe to say that there's just not enough time to write it before the deadline that a late 2010 publication date would require.

In fact, I do believe that that deadline would have already passed.

Or maybe another E-Book TBP? Or would it be to late for that to be put together too?

Out of the Coccoon and What's Past were only announced as being released like a month or two ago, and their release dates are this summer, so I don't think that it'd be too late to put another one together.

No, they were previously reported as October through January. Those dates are a month later.

A possible simple explanation... the British release dates for Trek books are always a month behind the US release dates. And isn't the Star Trek Magazine produced by the British-based Titan Magazines (so that's the dates they'd quote)?

No, actually, they were already reported the same way in the article we read announcing all the interim novel reprints. Each month's book comes out at the end of the previous month; Unspoken Truth and STO: The Needs Of The Many were both April books and came out this week. The release dates we were already given, and that are already listed on Amazon and have been for some time, show that the Typhon Pact are the November-February releases. It's been that way since the nuTrek cancellation was announced, if not earlier.

But that's odd, because the original plan was for them to be the last four books of the 2010 publication year, and the publication year runs from February to January. They were meant to be October to January. And books generally come out a couple of weeks before their nominal publication month, so the Amazon dates should say September to December. So going by what you're saying, there has been a postponement, perhaps due to the editorial upheavals.

Yes, that's correct. I noticed that back when all the interim books were announced, and no one in the thread believed me...

But it's definitely true - the whole thing was delayed a month.

The S&S website lists Zero Sum Game as having changed places with Seize The Fire. Is that what you're referring to?

At the moment, the UK Amazon lists the Aventine book out at the end of november (30th), the titan one at the beginning of december (9th) and the DS9 as at the end of december (28th).

Though further changes wouldnt be surprising, as I know when I ordered the Titan book it listed it as a october release.

Up until a couple of weeks ago, the schedule for Typhon Pact was Oct-Jan. That's what we'd been told from the beginning, and that's what Jaime reconfirmed when I asked her specifically about what TrekMovie was reporting a while back (and jacking up the titles, and switching the authors, etc.). However, she later notified me that things indeed were getting bumped a month, though she didn't tell me what the reasons were.

I figure there must be something somewhere causing a hiccup and requiring a tweaking of the schedule (which is why the words "tentative and subject to change" are always included with most scheduling announcements....and promptly ignored by pretty much anyone reading or reporting such things).

FWIW Michael A. Martin mentioned in a part of an answer that didn't made it into the final interview that Zero Sum Game would kick off the miniseries.

Awesome.

Which makes sense to me anyway; start out the next big crossover event with the guy that wrote the last one, and then plaster that all the hell over the first book. "From the author of Star Trek: Destiny..."

'From the guy who spectacularly destroyed the galaxy two years ago...'

:p

Hey, he didn't destroy the galaxy. Only about an area of local space about 100 light-years in diameter.

Which means (thank you, formula for the volume of a sphere), that he destroyed about 10,400 light-years' worth of space.

Not the entire galaxy!
