Oh, for the love of god...

I don't understand why Godzilla is so revered. Of all the movies to be appalled about Hollywood re-making, Godzilla should be one of the ones people care about least. I have seen one Godzilla movie ("Godzilla vs. Mothra") and it was one of the shittiest movies I have ever seen. Corny and not in a good way. Awful special effects, pitiful acting and sound design and a nonexistent story.

I asked a Japanese friend how or why anyone would like this crap. He said people probably saw it on TV and loved it for childhood nostalgia. I guess that makes sense, but I see no other reason to like or care about any of these movies. It's a giant dinosaur terrorizing a city. Whoop dee doo. At least with modern CGI we'd be spared the insulting visual of a man in a crappy Halloween costume doing all the destruction.

This.

Yeah, it's about time people stopped being bitchy about remaking Godzilla, and just go with the flow. And they'd better be filming in CGI, or I'll be pissed off; men in suits under hot Klieg lights is just plain irresponsible.

CLOVERFIELD was JJ's attempt, I think, at making the Godzilla movie they wouldn't let him make. I thought Cloverfield was a great movie, and I hope the new Godzilla movie is along those lines..

as for not liking GODZILLA? I have the same feeling for Dr. Who. I've seen it a couple times and shake my head and wonder why its liked so much..to each their own..

A new Godzilla movie is like a new Bond movie at this point.

Bond vs Godzilla. Now there's a thought...

Daniel Craig's Bond, despite being a questionable individual, will kick Godzilla's ass....

Godzilla, OTOH, will kick the ass of Bond if any of these actors portray him:

*Roger Moore
*Pierce Brosnan

George Lazenby may do okay; of course, Sean Connery's Bond vs. Godzilla would be interesting.

You really NEED to see the first one. Preferably the subbed version without Raymond Burr. That was a hell of a film, even by today's standards.
