Oh, for the love of god...

What?

I'm not likely to enter any outrage here, this is Godzilla, a prolific cinematic franchises. There are 28 Godzilla films, and that's just counting the Japanese ones.

A new Godzilla movie is like a new Bond movie at this point, and hardly anything to get upset over, in my eyes.
I don't know why they bother. Nothing will ever overcome the awesome original.
It probably won't try to; since it says it's based off the first few movies I suspect monster-on-monster action may be the order of the day.

I'm with you and Cha-chi..I love the Japanese zilla movies; and have most of them. I think, if done right, it could be big. I predicted the same for Zilla 1998, and looked how that turned out..IT WAS AWFUL.

So..If they make it more along the lines of the Japanese version, and some stupid lizard wannabee, I think this could be a great movie...holding my breath on the casting..

I don't understand why Godzilla is so revered. Of all the movies to be appalled about Hollywood re-making, Godzilla should be one of the ones people care about least. I have seen one Godzilla movie ("Godzilla vs. Mothra") and it was one of the shittiest movies I have ever seen. Corny and not in a good way. Awful special effects, pitiful acting and sound design and a nonexistent story.

I asked a Japanese friend how or why anyone would like this crap. He said people probably saw it on TV and loved it for childhood nostalgia. I guess that makes sense, but I see no other reason to like or care about any of these movies. It's a giant dinosaur terrorizing a city. Whoop dee doo. At least with modern CGI we'd be spared the insulting visual of a man in a crappy Halloween costume doing all the destruction.

You have no grasp of what Japanese monster movies are all about.

It's like people who see episodes of Trek and say "So what?"

Japanese monster movie are a genre to themselves, and while you don't apparently appreciate them, others do.

Welcome to life.

I like the idea of Godzilla versus Bond. Why not?

Watch 1954's Gojira. If you don't get it then, you never will. Fantastic monster movie; grim and rather entertaining stuff.

No no, Hollywood is not out of ideas. At least, it's not until your eyes finish reading this and glance over my signature. Then Hollywood is out of ideas. Until I post again. Or until the next Monday. Whichever comes first.

I expected to click that link and find some real horror: a remake of The Graduate or Casablanca. :rommie: But the big lizard can take it.
