Question about the health care bill

Garm Bel Iblis

So because of my pro-domestic abuse stance () I am not allowed to post in "The Forum That Shall not bE named."

I have a question regarding the new health care bill. It states that children will be able to stay on theirparents plan until age 26. Do they have to be full-time students to qualify? What if they are NOT on a plan now, will they be able to join when the new laws for this take affect?

The age is the only stipulation. Being a student was a prerequisite for providers, but I would imagine that's done away with in this bill. Most college students are done by age 22.

So say my sister in law who is 23 and out of school, she'll be able go back on my in-laws policy?

Don't go counting your chickens before they hatch.

Within six months of enactment of the bill - or by the end of September - consumers should notice some changes. Among them, insurers would be required to keep young adults as beneficiaries on their parents' health plans until they turn 26, and companies would no longer be allowed to deny coverage to sick children.
Other changes would not kick in until 2014.
That last part is an emphasis of mine. The Government has to collect a lot of money to attempt to pay for this turd.

Basically, check with a more knowledgeable source than anyone on this board.

Grad school.

And it is a good question, but a pointless one. My mom hardly could afford the $600 a month after my dad died. If your insurance comes from your parents jobs and they don't have jobs or don't have the money to pay for you it doesn't matter if the age limit is now 1296. The whole thing is a joke, but that Washington, and that's Obama.

Have you read the bill?

Not even Obama has read the bill. He's been saying that now children can get insured even though they have pre-existing conditions. That's not true. If they already have coverage then the insurance company must also cover their pre-existing condition, but if they don't already have coverage then the insurance companies aren't required to pick them up.

I have read it. You should read the bill, too.

Why do I need to read the bill? No I mean it. This bill makes me buy health care I can't afford. If my mom can't afford her health care now, never mind if she adds me to it too.

Luckily I live in MA, sadly I would like to move out of the state, I can't because we are the only ones with a health care system!

You realize people in MA are already forced to buy insurance, right?

Yeah, that's the most hilarious thing I've read here all week!

Countless hours reading 3,000+ pages of the wrong bill - time shot to h3ll, never to be recovered.

Axiom, the correct bill is HR 3590, commonly called "the Senate bill" and titled "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act." It was signed into law on Tuesday.

Your AHCAA PDF is HR 3962, commnly called "the House bill." It was placed in the Senate's In-Box back in November and the Senate ignored it.

It's dead Jim.

Eh. I've read several versions of the bill. Laugh away.
Except for Garm, who is in no position to laugh about anything.

That being said, I have a copy of HR 3590 sitting in front of me and will read it over the next couple of days.
Interested in joining me?

Eh. I've read several versions of the bill. Laugh away.

Each "version" of the bill was over 2500 pages long, the final senate bill that was signed into law was over 2700 pages, how much free time do you have?

I can read very fast. I'll be able to clear about 600-800 pages by tomorrow afternoon if I get right on it.
