RIP Robert Culp

Robert Culp passes away

Robert Culp, who starred in "I Spy," "Bob&Carol&Ted&Alice," "The Greatest American Hero" and other memorable roles passed away from a heart attack this afternoon. He was 79 years old. I saw Greatest American Hero for the first time in 30 years literally just yesterday. How sadly ironic. :( What a great, underrated gem that show was. Culp was the quintessential lovable curmudgeon as Agent Maxwell.

Oh dear. :( RIP Robert.

Side note: I always thought he was related to Steven Culp in some way, like his father or uncle. But apparently they're not related.

RIP: Robert Culp

He has been in so much, just glance through his IMDB listing.

The 79 year old character acter apparently fell and struck his head while jogging.

I'd forgotten how much I loved the theme song from Greatest American Hero. It was on the radio constantly when I was in high school

Believe It Or Not

The theme to "I Spy" from the early 1960s featuring Culp and a very young Bill Cosby. Very cool looking--not too bad for 60s graphics and all. Very slick.

I Spy

Culp and Cosby went to Memphis in the wake of Martin Luther King's assassination to further organize and aid the striking workers King was helping.

Re: RIP: Robert Culp

I just heard about this on the radio. He was really terrific on The Greatest American Hero.

RIP.

Re: RIP: Robert Culp

That sucks. He was great in everything I ever saw him in.
RIP Mr Culp you will be remembered for many years to come.

Just heard.:(:( Great actor. Loved him in Greatest American Hero, I Spy and a couple episodes of Outer Limits and other guest spots.

I read though that he died from a fall while walking today. He hit his head. ?????

Re: RIP: Robert Culp

Very, very sad. I still have my I Spy magnet on my refrigerator. In high school, I was always using the word "Scenario!" just like his character on "Greatest American Hero."

No one could deliver a line the way he could. News of his passing makes me feel like I've lost a relative.

Yes. There are some conflicting reports, though. A heart attack may be what caused the fall. He was busy acting right up until the end, and writing screenplays, too.
