I did notice the thread devolved into other genres, and with that in mind, I postulate this:
We've seen Kirk & Co. defeat V'Ger, an arguable semi-omnipotent being.
Let's move to Frank Herbert's 2 books, Destination:Void & The Jesus Incident.
What do you think Kirk and Spock could do prevail against an AI that claims to posses the universe as a direct experience? Ship seems capable of anything, up to and including the abrogating the Guardian.
For that matter, How would K & S handle Leti II, God Emporer of Dune? Would Leto know they were coming (of course)? And maybe they fit into His plans!
More to consider--What if Duncan Idaho is a direct descendent(?) of Kirk?
