I'm curious. I didn't see the dual disc version of ST09. Can anyone tell me what the deleted scenes were?
I guess he hasn't been around here.Hahahaha. Frosty, the writer of the piece says, "Simply put, 'Star Trek' has opened the summer movie season with a huge home run and I don’t know how anyone will be disappointed."
You're welcome.^^ Thanks.
That's a discussion we've had here a few times already (and in a couple of other forums, as well, if I'm not mistaken.) I don't think it was ever settled to everyone's complete satisfaction. Then I saw this:
Starships — Abrams and production designer Scott Chambliss were careful to pay tribute to the design of the original Enterprise, but they also wanted to make it futuristic and cool for a modern audience. This chapter focuses on the unique stories behind the creation of the film’s starships.
They were way off the mark here because the nu Uglyprise has none of the majesty and grace of the original MJ design. But that's another subject for another thread...
Oh, they did a wonderful job of enhancing and extending the TOS Enterprise designs. The ship exterior is certainly an improvement in several ways.![]()

Except, maybe, for parts of the secondary hull.
How can they shoot that klingon sequence and later decide to cut it all out? Not saying it belonged in the film, but if we're talking about pacing issues, I think that sequence would have been the first thing on my mind to change before production started.

There is nothing new with that. That's the purpose of editing. To review the entire product and then decide what works and what doesn't (that's how they do it with 99.9% of all films.)

Eh. I won't disagree, but only because the original doesn't do much for me these days.
The original design, for me at least, can never hold up against the improved Jefferies/Probert design for the Enterprise: the Phase II/TMP refit.
The Church design beats the Refit, IMO. It has a forceful visual impact that even the Refit was missing.
. It's hard for me to fathom that so much effort could have been put into making a thing so ungainly, but as they say, YMMV.

That's because you don't understand the principles of aesthetics.
