24 likely to end this season (Official)

Re: 24 likely to end this season

^ That might be an interesting enough show, but would it work within the real-time and 24 hour period format? I think the premise of 24 needs some ongoing and immediate threat, that can be resolved over the course of a day.

The concept you're suggesting is ongoing and open-ended. Why set it over a single day? What resolution would be reached at the end of each season if the same villains will be after Jack tomorrow?

Each season would end with the mastemind behind the plots going, "I'll get you next-time, Bauer. Next time!!!"

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Season 9 probably would have been Special Agent Kim hunting down Jack-turned-terrorist anyway.....

Re: 24 likely to end this season

They missed a great opportunity years ago to go in a different direction with the show and make it more something like The Incredible Hulk, with Jack on the run from whatever threatens him...shadowy government or ex evil nemesis...that would be intent on hunting him down and killing him. To me, that would have been a better way to go, it would make more sense that this shit was always involving him, and it would have been able to really delve into the character in ways that make more sense. But instead, they just kept doing the same shit year in and year out.

I actually like your idea for what they should have been done. Running from his past would have been great...

Re: 24 likely to end this season

24 when it started, to me, was interesting and fresh. It took itself seriously and was a pretty smart show. That quickly went by the way side. :(

My friend pointed out that nobody grows a 5 o'clock shadow as the day progresses, in any season.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

My only problem with this premise is that Jack is always specifically hunted at least twice a year, usually in mid-season; once by the bad guys and once by the good guys who think he's gone rogue
This year, they've at least acknowledged that he's not just Jack Bauer, he's JACK FUCKING BAUER. Like Hastings a couple of weeks ago essentially saying to the President, "Well, I wouldn't take that route myself, but since Jack thinks it's the right idea let's go with it."

I'm sure that Jack'll "go rogue" again this season because they need it for drama and threat, but it was nice to see that his saving America half a dozen times is finally being recognised as a sign that, y'know, he's above board and knows what he's doing.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Maybe if NBC takes it, they'll strip down the budget and get rid of the entire President side of the story. No global threat terrorists, just Jack in the wrong place at the wrong time like Die Hard.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Spin off Aaron into a series and call it "1". Each week takes place over 1 hour in "real time" but the next week is something entirely different and ... and ...

Crap. You'd have to call it "41 minutes" then.

24 is called "24" even though te episodes are only 41 minutes long. Time still, theoreticaly, moves when the commercials play. ;)

Re: 24 likely to end this season

would I be right in saying that if NBC picked up 24, that would kill Heroes?

How do you kill something that's already dead?
has Heroes been officially axed? heck ive yet to read the words "FOX has OFFICALLY axed 24" so far all ive read is "Fox is expected to announce its axing of 24 in a few days"

Still I am also waiting for offical word on Scrubs & Numb3rs.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Well Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz have both signed on to new pilots, so that's probably the end of Numbers.

Maybe NBC can combine Heroes.

Noah: "One of us, one of them. Sylar, meet your new partner -- Jack Bauer."

Sylar: "What's your ability?"

Jack: "I can't die, I can travel anywhere in ten minutes, I'm never wrong and I paint the future -- with bullets!"

Re: 24 likely to end this season

I agree, Numb3rs is done, but there is no offical word on its fate. Heroes is still on the bubble.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Heroes has been dead for years, just because it's still around doesn't mean it's alive. Medicine works wonders these days.

NBC has nothing anyways so I doubt 24 would get anything canceled. I also doubt 24 will go to NBC because NBC is a CHEAP network that if the show cost more than $50 there is no chance it's staying around. It's why "Fatass Losers" or whatever it is called is on all the time.
