The future of Star Trek TV = Enterprise C!

After skimming through some threads, If they ever do decide to do a new series then I think it should be set in either post Voyager or TMP era. The TMP era is probably the only one that has not been explored extensively as it just appears in films.

It would be interesting to see the Federation/Klingon relationship, a few skirmishes here and there, along with aliens and enemies from the TOS era like the Gorn etc.

Actually how about a series based on the Enterprise C? And the finale of the series could be a recreation of 'Yesterdays Enterprise' from the viewpoint of the older Enterprise.

OOOO! That would be good! (I'm getting excited now) lol. What do you guys think? Any ideas regarding a series on the Enterprise C and what kind of storyline could be included?

I always have to split these things in half; what do I want to see, which launches me out into the stratosphere imagining stuff, and how likely I am to ever see it, which brings me right back down to Earth.

I like the idea of more history on the Enterprise C and the conclusion where it is destroyed in the view point of the C crew after the events of Yesterday's Enterprise. I like that idea. It'd be a cool made-for-tv mini series (maybe a 2 hour event kind of deal maybe) but even getting that far would be really, really, really lucky.

They're not going to make any more prequel series in the prime Universe after the cancellation of Enterprise. That's... it's just not gonna happen. I really like your idea though. If nothing else it'd make an awesome premise for a fanfic.

Yeah, its a shame though, there is a lot about this time period that we don't know about and theres little or no information about this particular ship compared to the others. If only CBS/Paramount replaced Enterprise with this prequel series, it would have probably would have achieved seven seasons.

I don't see why that couldn't make for a good series. It's a time period that hasn't been explored much.

Personally, I had wished that Series V had been about the Enterprise-B--a Star Trek: The Lost Generation--that would have chronicled the adventures of that ship during the very late 23rd-Century/early 24th-Century. I think that Enterprise was around perhaps longer than any other to date (including the original) and probably had several different captains and crews during her time in service.

But I also think the time for that has passed now.

Well post Nemesis it seems that the Federation and Starfleet is pretty much a dieing force, the greats of Starfleet are long gone and the threat from enemies is ever present and i'm not sure what kind of condition the fleet would be in at that time. I'm not sure if I would want to see a Star Trek based on this.

I still think that TMP era hasn't been explored enough and you are right producing a prequel is risky, as some sort of Star Trek history has already been written and it would be hard for writers to be innovative and still remain canon. Just a shame writers didn't think of ideas such as these before making "Enterprise."

I'd expect any Trek TV series launched in the near future will take place in roughly the time period of Abrams's Star Trek movies. That enables the studio to leverage resources, publicity and good will.

I don't agree. Just replacing the time period and the ship wouldn't have made a difference. The stories and the characters would still have basically been the same as ENTERPRISE.

Since the Abramsverse is in a different reality, and therefore a different timeline than we've seen, we could have an Abramsverse prequel in the 23rd C in which the future is just as uncertain as if we were in the Primeverse post-Dominion War.

Sure, we might get an episode that featured, say, the Doomsday Machine. But the audience would know more about the topic than originally, and so would Our Heroes, in consultation with Original Spock, so the whole thing would play out differently and unpredictably.

I believe there has been some talk by Marco Palmieri about doing a new Star Trek TV show but based in the new universe created by JJ Abrams. Not the Enterprise, but another starship. I think it would be interesting but I doubt this will happen any time soon.

Nope, don't like it. The producers would want to change and update things so that the NCC-1701-C would look more advanced than the NCC-1701-D both inside and out. The actors shown in "Yesterday's Enterprise" would be too old and the roles would need to be recast with other actors. Probably just better to move forward in time and place the new program post-Star Trek Nemesis or farther out into the future.

I don't like the idea, just because we know whats going to happen in the end so why bother? Another ship would be better.

I think post-voyager would be better, or post-nero. Just nothing in the alternate univers, and I'm happy.

If there were a new TV series, I'm still interested in the characters from TNG/DS9/Voy. I'd like to see a series set after these three, with a mix of old and new characters. No filling in the gaps or prequels. Keep moving forward with some characters I've already got some emotional investment in.

Oddly enough, I read the Lost Era novel, "Well of Souls" that featured the Enterprise-C a few years ago. And while I thought it did a great job showcasing Captain Garrett and her crew (many of which were newly created for the book) having a blend of both TOS and TNG sensibilities, I was actually depressed while reading the whole book because I knew they would all meet tragic ends. In a way, liking the characters made it even worse for me...

I wouldn't mind this as long as they ditch the 'C' nonsense and completely divorce it from the old continuity.

Just make it the USS Enterprise NCC-Somethingelse and Abramsprise-ify the ship.

I think exactly the opposite. Post Nemesis it seems like all of the problems in the Alpha Quadrant have more or less be solved. The Federation is BFF's with the Klingon Empire. Cardassia will likely never be a threat of any kind ever again. As if fighting the Dominion weren't enough to bring the Romulans to the table of friendship the events of Nemesis sure set them down that path it would see. Who does that leave? It's like it has been solved. There are... "episodic" villains left I'm sure but that's it. If they wanted to make a series post Nemesis it would have to take the plunge Voyager should have and go outside the galaxy with no hope of ever returning to Earth (or no intent to based on their mission or something like that.)

But I agree; we have 30 years of material, volume upon volume of books (written by the writers of the various series), and plenty of imagination- can we please move beyond Kirk and company?
