Question about THE NEXT DOCTOR

We haven't seen THE NEXT DOCTOR on SyFy U.S. yet.

Can someone give me a spoiler?

Was David Morrissey's character a future version of the Doctor, or was he a human? And if he wasn't the Doctor, why did he know about things like the Tardis? And why did he claim to be the Doctor?

Thanks!

They're not showing ANY Doctor Who on Syfy anymore.

You should be able to find it pretty cheap though. I've seen it for 10 bucks at some places. And it's well worth seeing. It was my favorite of the four specials.
He is a 19th Century Human who's accidentally had Dalek intelligence files about the Doctor uploaded into his mind, so he things he's the Doctor, and assumes that any gaps in his memory are down to his recent regeneration.
^^ I think they could if they chose to outbid BBC America for the broadcast rights. BBC America though has expressed that it is quite interested in keeping those rights so I don't know that Syfy wants to contest that. The president of BBCA has gone on record saying if he had been around Sci-Fi never would have got those first seasons.

Currently, that's true, but do you know it for a fact that SyFy U.S. won't be running Doctor Who ever again?

If so, where'd the info come from?

Syfy lost first broadcast rights to BBC America back in May 2009, I believe. They may still have rights to Series 1-4 reruns. The SyFy website still has their Doctor Who page up at least. Perhaps they aren't airing any reruns so as not to aid BBC America. Who knows... no pun intended.

If only he actually was the next Doctor : (
Nah, I preferred Jackson Lake being Jackson Lake. I just wish hadn't been sidelined during the second half of the episode after his mystery was resolved. He should've been the hero of the day.

SyFy did such a crap job with the program, poor commercial breaks. Remember?

As much as it might suck for those who can't get BBCA, the show is in better hands there.

Check your cable lineup, you might be able to get BBCA in a higher level package. I get it in my "basic" America's 200 on DISH Network and that's around $60/month.

Lots of other good stuff on BBCA too.

I agree. If only Davies had more time to write the script and a less sycophantic circle around him who could tell him when his work wasn't up to snuff...

"The Next Doctor" was, I think, two drafts away from greatness. It's still good, but a strong script editor would have zeroed in on the weaknesses of the second half; namely, that once Lake's identity is solved, he recedes into the background and the energy of the episode is sapped. The two unforgivable sins in my mind? Lake should have been the one to save his son, and Lake should have ridden in his balloon-TARDIS.
