Series 5 in Canada - April 17

And oh yeah, [Insert pro-Space and anti-CBC comment here.]

LOL. Seriously, though, if the CBC were still airing it, right now the pools would be open to guess how much of the 60-minute (without commercials) first episode would be cut by the CBC.

Incidentally, on a related note, this month Space receives rebroadcast rights to the first four seasons from the CBC. And in April they get the rights to air Voyage of the Damned, which means (unless CBC Bold or a French-language network snuck in a broadcast somewhere when we weren't looking) there could be a bonus next month if Space decides to give Voyage its Canadian TV premiere as well. The blog at Doctor Who Information Network I believe did make mention that VOTD might be shown soon after Space got the rights to it.

On that note, here's hoping Space shows the full episodes without cutting anything.

Which is possible. They showed all the 09 specials and Children of Earth uncut. And with the 9:00 ET Saturday timeslot, we'll likely have the movie of the week airing afterwards, which won't require a fixed timeslot on the hour.

They did it with the specials, so they'll do it with the series. And if there's any other doubt, remember they aired Torchwood in something like a 64-minute timeslot in order to air those episodes uncut. They'll do the same with DW. I can't speak to BBC America, but certainly I expect cuts to be minimal - maybe we'll lose the Coming Soon trailers, or a few dibs and dabs. But unless Space has done a complete about face we're not going to see a repeat of the Journey's End fiasco.

Great news!! I wonder if they'll start showing promos soon, or perhaps adding footage from the first trailer to those really good SPACE ads they have (which I believe still include a shot of 10 from "The Next Doctor".
