Fellow Trek fans, I need your help!

Ok so first a little background. I have been in my current relationship for 7 years and finally popped the question, she said yes. She is a beautiful girl with a great sense of humor. Early on in the relationship I got her to give Star Trek a chance. Within the first 3 years of our relationship we made it through all of TOS TNG and DS9. We watched them all in consecutive order on DVD. We watched most of Enterprise when it originally aired but never got around to Voyager since I don't own it on DVD. Anyway, she is a convert and I can't pull her away from the tv if an episode of TNG is on.

We are having a non religious ceremony and we are trying to decide on the readings. We are looking at different pieces of literature but the other day she mentioned that she wouldn't mind having something from Star Trek as one of the readings! I need help finding something to use. I know of plenty of quotes about love but nothing longer than like a sentence. I was hoping there would be a Kirk monologue or something that I am overlooking. I have done some searching on my own but haven't found anything. I know the Star Trek Experience used to do Star Trek Weddings and apparently they had some sort of Star Trek readings so if anyone here had or has been to a Star Trek wedding please let me know. I would prefer a Kirk quote or something from TNG or DS9 as those were our favorites but I would be open to anything if that is not doable. Also it should be about love/man and woman/family, something like that. I would not mind going outside of canon and quoting something from the Star Trek books if I can't find something else. Anyone have any ideas?

" I take it the odds are against us and the situation is grim."

Maybe not.

We included the Klingon wedding vows from DS9 as part of ours- "To join with you and stand with you against all who would oppose us." You can also have the bit about the "two Klingon hearts each bring different components to a union, with neither one having dominion over the other."

I used 'Labour of Love' (track 3 from the new Trek film) as the processional for my half of my wedding party march a few months ago, and people loved it.

I have also always been fond of the narration for the ST VI trailer, read by Christopher Plummer, it's possible you could modify this:

"For one quarter of a century, they have thrilled us with their adventures, amazed us with their discoveries, and inspired us with their courage. Their ship has journeyed beyond imagination; her name has become legend; her crew, the finest ever assembled. We have traveled beside them from one corner of the galaxy to the other. They have been our guides, our protectors, and our friends."

Perhaps the best proclamation of love in Trek is Kirk's eulogy to Spock, with some creativity you could turn that into a very simple, and touching vow of love and friendship.

Might be a bit grim for a wedding, though.
