IDW announce new Who comics

That was always the plan. Tony Lee is doing a massive 18-part story arc that will take us up to the end of the 10th Doctor's time. :)

reappearance by Martha
Not a surprise, but I already have issue #8 where she reappears. ;)

reprints of Fifth Doctor story published as 'Voyageur' by Marvel fully coloured.
"Voyager" (no "u," despite what the CBR article says) is a sixth Doctor story, not fifth. Written by Steve Parkhouse, art by John Ridgway. Brilliant stuff. I love it to pieces. The comic adventures of the sixth Doctor in the 80s are so much more interesting, better written, and more consistent than the JNT/Saward-led adventures on television. (And I say this as someone who really only dislikes "Lameshit.")

first ever Who comic annual

There have been Doctor Who Annuals published since 1964 and the new series saw a revival of the Annual format in 2005. I'm assuming they mean annual in the American context, which basically means a comic with more pages of stuff, which would be cool.

end to Tennant's time
No real surprise as they announced this back in February 2009 but it's still nice that they're sticking to their plan. In some respects they're going to fall behind a bit, but then again as some people seem to be convinced that Matt Smith is going to become the Doctor Who equivalent of Conan O'Brien, they could be in a good position to benefit by being the only outlet for new Tennant-related stories.

reappearance by Martha
Again no surprise as she appears at the end of the most recent arc and so we know she (and UNIT) will play a part in the next storyline. It'll probably just be a one-off appearance, though, otherwise it'd mess with continuity too much. Personally, I'd rather they go back in time a bit and give us another Donna story. Or even a Rose story.

reprints of Fifth Doctor story published as 'Voyageur' by Marvel fully coloured.
As already corrected, that's the Fifth Doctor. Marvel already issued a fully colored graphic novel of Voyager back in the 80s, so it'll be interesting to see how the new versions is handled. Hopefully IDW will also issue The Age of Chaos, the Doctor Who miniseries Marvel put out back around 1989 that was written by Colin Baker. It was never published in North America.

Alex

I just hope when they get to the Matt Smith era they use some better, more consistent artwork. I always wanted to get into the Tennant books, but the art was a big turnoff for me.

IDW can't publish past Doctors, and they want to wait until there's enough Matt Smith material out there for Tony Lee to get a handle on the character.

I was merely making an ironic comment on the ubiquity of the tenth Doctor - he's already the single most prolific Doctor in terms of number of stories.
