Well I don't know about it being a contradiction. But if memory serves me correctly, wasn't it because we both loved the pretty blond kitty in Batman Returns? Or was it the leather outfit and the whip? (I can not watch that movie without always thinking of you. I have the same problem with Out of Africa too.)

In the 2002 unaired pilot a fusion power experiment that took place before the events depicted in the pilot had the unintended effect of remotely shifting persons between time periods, therefore a team has to be repeatedly sent back through the tunnel like apparatus to repair changes in history. the pilot depicts their first misson.
